A friend of mine has been playing all weekend and loves it, but I've spotted a couple of less glowing reviews online

Video Games
I haven't, it does look interesting, as a 40k fan, but as a gamer in general I find these turn based games in the xcom style get boring quite quickly, the only one I have enjoyed recently is Marvels Midnight Suns, so I doubt I will be picking this up as I'm waiting for Space marine 2 to scratch my 40k video game itch! Also id just LOVE if an RTS game in the style of command and conquer was released using the 40k universe and lore, it would be incredible! That's my dream 40k game! (kind of like the dawn of war games but a new version with more base building and bigger battles, think Supreme commander style mixed with 40k and we are there!) Will you be picking up Rogue Trader? Have the bad reviews been really negative?
It's 9/10 on Steam so people are clearly enjoying it. This PCGamer review is far from glowing though:

I'm probably not going to pick it up, because I've still got a lot of BG3 to scratch my turn-based itch. It's been a long time since I've really engaged with the 40k universe. I know there are some great 40k games like Vermintide out there, but I always wanted one that included all of the factions. A C&C-style RTS would be perfect for that. When I used to collect 40k models, I loved the Necrons, Tau, and Daemonhunters.
Did you ever try the Total War: Warhammer games?
awesome! I have not tried the total war warhammer games even though I do own some of them lol backlog problems you know!? Plus I’m not really into the warhammer world if it’s not 40K, my best mate loves them tho! Aww brilliant I’m just getting into the table top game and just painted my first space marine but the army I have got which I need to build is Tau as I loved the look of the mechs! Here’s my first ever model build / paint attempt! It was a lot of fun!
For a first paintjob, you've done an excellent job there! I was always hopeless and painting them - no matter how careful I tried to be, they were always a mess.
Agreed, the Tau design is just really awesome. Although my favourite models were Schaeffer's Last Chancers - such cool models and lore!
thanks! Yeah my eyesight was struggling not gonna lie as they are really small, especially trying to add detail! Had to take a few pics with my phone and zoom in then try again lol oh cool I’ve not heard of them I will have to look them up!
