Which game defined the original PlayStation in your opinion?

The original PlayStation had so many games but which would you say …
Crash Bandicoot feels like it represents the console, much like Mario and Sonic do for Nintendo and Sega.
That being said, Abe from Abe's Oddysee will always be the first one that comes to my mind!

For me the games I played most were Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VIII, and Tekkens 2 and 3, but I don't know if I'd call any of them 'definitive' except maybe MGS. I think it's got to be something like Crash or Spyro
Metal Gear Solid is the most defining game on the platform, but I interestingly didn't play it at the time because I was a tad too young. I revisited once I fell in love with MGS3 and worked my way back through the series. Even though the graphics haven't aged too well, it's still as fun as can be even today.
I mostly played Spyro, Digimon World, Hogs of War (can't wait for the remake despite losing the Kickstarter campaign), Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, and (surprisingly considering how adult it is), Team Buddies. I've literally just this second learned that Team Buddies was developed by Psygnosis, a former studio that was based in my home city just around the corner from where I live.
I'm with you, crash was the best game, perfect blend of "this is awesome" to "throwing the controller" and realising at the last second it's attached..... It's a game that makes you go "yes" at the top of your voice but also "GO **** YOURSELF" when it goes wrong. Imo ofc :)
I see it's already been chosen but it's Abe for me! I actually prefer Exoddus over Oddysee but it's one of the games that defines it for me personally. The first few games my younger sister and I got with our PS1 for Christmas were FIFA 99, Rayman, Abe and Crash Bandicoot.
I know Tomb Raider and Rayman define the PS1 for some of my friends but with them being available on other platforms I'm sticking with Abe!
I never owned a PS1 I only got to play at my friend's and that was mostly FFVII and FFVIII so when anyone asked me why I wanted a PS rather than any other console my answer was because I want to play Final Fantasy 😂
For me, the first games I think of when I think of the PS1 are Parappa the Rapper, Wipeout, Crash Bandicoot and Gran Turismo. Such an amazing console
