Kotaku got an interview with Ubisoft Massive (makers of the Division), or more specifically its Narrative Director Navid Khavari, about its upcoming open-world Star Wars game. A couple of highlights:
It's set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, when the Empire is cracking down on the Rebellion and criminals all over the galaxy see new opportunities in the chaos
You play hardened outlaw Kay Vess, whose crew includes a commando droid and a cute alien (standard)
Three major gameplay states: bustling cities where the criminal underworld rubs up against the Empire; big open-world planets with cool alien environments; and flying through space. You can play on foot, drive a speeder, or fly Kay's ship to aid exploration in each state.
There's mention of LucasArts' 1313, which would've cast you as an outlaw/bounty hunter in the galactic capital of Coruscant, and which got a lot of fans excited to explore the grittier side of the Star Wars universe before it was cancelled after Disney bought it all. Plenty more to read in the article!
