The stand outs for me are:

Darren Korb - Hades, Bastion, Transistor Christopher Larkin - Hollow Knight RainbowDragonEyes - The Messenger & Sea of Stars David Fenn - Death's Door And Chipzel not just for her video game soundtracks but everything she does!

All of these for similar reasons are executed so exquisitely, whether lending a tone of melancholy to the scene or giving you the surge of adrenaline you need to get through a boss fight, all of the games listed above are massively enhanced by their soundtracks.

The Avarice rooms in Death's Door are a prime example, wave after wave of enemy with a reward awaiting at the end, soundtracked by this delectable piece of music! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOYgn46rvEY

That's a fantastic list. I just listened to the David Fenn track, and wow - that's exactly what I want to battle to. Steel drums combined with electric guitar, who knew?!

Why do I suddenly feel the urge to grab a battle axe and slow-mo walk towards a raging battle?

Give in to that! I'll be doing the same when I jump back into DS1 - battle axe is my weapon of choice at the moment!

I absolutely love the music from Outer Wilds. Obligatory comment - don't look up the story, but the soundtrack is fine. I could (and sometimes do!) just listen to this on repeat!

I have a friend who listens to this soundtrack on repeat too!

I don't know who your friend is, but tell them they're pretty cool in my book! 😎

For the past 3 years I've ended up with a video game OST in my Spotify wrapped - though I've never played the Outer Wilds so I'll have to check it out just for the OST alone at this rate!

If you do play, you know what to do!

Forget this year! A few tracks caught my ears over the years which I play often. Timeless. A notable one is Interstate 76 which had an excellent soundtrack.

Then there's Dungeon Keeper:

Red Alert

Wow - I do not remember the Red Alert soundtrack being that intense. And that Interstate 76 track is outrageously funky.

Interstate 76 soundtrack is all like that and you can bung it in your CD player and listen to it. It's a full album.

My favourite is Nobuo Uematsu, but Masayoshi Soken is very close second. They wrote some if the most epic game soundtracks and with their incredible talent comes a very humble and kind personality.

Actually you'll be reading more about game music when I get to write my entry for the favourite game developer bounty ;)
