I imagine a PS2 version never happened because of the poor reception of the PS1 mini. The N64 I have no idea, though. If I was to guess, I would say the form factor was an issue, the gargantuan N64 controllers fly in the face of the "mini" concept. Still, I'm sure it would have sold extremely well had they done it

Personally I'm gutted we never got a Dreamcast mini

Omg a Dreamcast mini would be incredible I would buy day one!

I'd argue that a N64 (plus Dreamcast) wouldn't work because people would be outraged if it didn't have 4 player local (and therefore you would need to produce 4 controllers as well).
It'd be a feature that only a fraction of players would even use but would still be very vocal about its omission

surely if it just came with one or 2 then extras were available to buy that would be cool?

The PSOne mini was not well received as the emulation on them was poor.

Plus Raspberry Pi is a thing at a fraction of the cost+ more games+ better emulation

So there really isn't a market for it especially if companies have already invested putting old games onto their online market place which Nintendo shows off at every Direct which old games are entering the virtual console
