In a day/night cycle, ambient lighting (among other factors) changes in real time to create the impression of day passing into night. Pioneered in immersive RPGs, we now see them in many other genres.
For this reward, we want you to show day/night cycles at their most beautiful by filming and editing a time-lapse video. That's a video that stretches the frame rate, so that when played at normal speed, time appears to be sped up. There are plenty of examples online, and guides on making them.
Here are the rules:
Your video must use in-game footage from a single video game
Your video must feature a day-to-night transition
Your video can be anywhere from two to 20 minutes in length
Your video must be submitted through a connected social media account (we'd love it if you tagged us in your post, too!)
Remember that time-lapse videos use a fixed camera so we can see what's changing, so no walking around! You may pick several spots and combine multiple time-lapsed clips into a single video for maximum effect, and given the hefty top prizes on offer for this one, we advise you to do so (as ever we reserve the right to reject submissions that don't hit our quality bar, regardless of other entries).
This is a time-limited reward with a podium finish, which will only close and be judged on January 6. There's your holiday project! Need some inspiration? We ran this idea recently on Elite Dangerous; take a look.
