This was the first time i watched the Game Awards and I have to say, i thoroughly enjoyed the event!

It reminded me of the ol’ E3 days with the anticipation and excitement. And it was nice to see so many great games getting acknowledged for their achievements. I had fun trying to guess which entry would win each category.

In terms of reveals, there was plenty of interesting stuff. A couple that caught my eye though were Slay The Spire II (loved the first one) and Rematch (fresh take on the footballing genre). Hopefully they’ll both play well.

Lastly, great to see Animal well and Balatro get multiple nominations. 2 fantastic games both made by individuals if I remember rightly? Or at least small teams. Just show’s the impact you can make with a fun concept delivered well. Roll on 2025! 😊

I

I always love to see the game that come up in the awards, some that i notice and some i never even heard of. I love video games, have since i got my first console and ever since then, ive been hooked.

Helldivers 2 is a great game with friends, i just got into it recently since steam allows you to share games with your friends as a family without having to borrow. besides that point it feels good to see that people think the same about a game as you. The awards let me set a goal to save up for a popular game if its on that list. I will say thought im pretty stoked that a new Fable is going to be released... i havent played fable since xbox 360 when i used to beg for live so i could do more than just a normal playthrough. ive longed for a new fable and i hope it lives up to the standard they set a long time ago, especially with the better graphics. Praise the game world.

In general the event was what I expected basing myself in the past editions, so there is the the awards and I don't have so much strong option about it since I don't play everyone and most of them aren't my type of game, but normally I agree, I saw a lot o people complaining about the the Game of the Year, but came on, the Astro Bot is a love letter for videogames, it's simple but it's well made and use the metalanguage with mastery.

About the announcements and trailer most of them didn't call my attention, other years there was a lot of better games that was announced and call my attention! But for me one of the greatest surprise for me was the new IP from Naughty Dog, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. I was hopping some sequence like The Last of Us Part III, but this one get me more exited since I'm a big fan of sci-fi games, specially the ones set in space.

And finally one other announcement is from Turok Origins, I was planing to start to play the series a while now and I think this is going to be the push up that was leaking to start it!

E

Honestly, this Game Awards was one of the better ones.

Obviously, many of the nominations made no sense, the board of voters were filled with clueless games journalists - and even non-games journalists, but overall the winners made sense.

While I have some personal gripe with making Astro Bot GOTY over something like Black Myth Wukong, since Astro Bot is a walking Sony advertisement and I can't play it if I don't own a PS5, it's acceptable and Astro Bot looks like somewhat of a return to form for casual platformers, which is always great- Mario can't lead the charge forever, hopefully.

The performances this year was amazing. Flute guy was iconic as always. The orchestra is filled with talented people, and the celebrity cameos weren't obnoxious and cringe, but fun and interesting. Snoop Dogg's performance was great. The ending medley was amazing. It was so much fun to watch.

The trailers this year, like every year, were a bit of a mixed bag, but a huge improvement over last year's awards. Honestly, I thought the Intergalactic and Witcher 4 trailers were awesome, even if I probably won't be able to run either on my quickly aging laptop.

Ultimately, this year's game awards soared past my relatively low expectations and I think it restored a lot of goodwill that they didn't let some of the god awful nominations win their categories. I have little to argue over with the winners of each categories and that left me feeling rather satisfied by it all. It was good fun to watch with the homies and I will be tuning in next year!

As a gaming enjoyer in 2024, there are many good and exciting games, and then the determination is at The Game Awards 2024. Honestly, when watching it, it was very tense and mixed feelings to see the Game of the Year winner. I thought, is that where it's at?

The 2024 Game of the Year ‘Astro Bot’ was announced. Did I see it wrong or what? It's not that it's not good, but I think there are more suitable ones, for example Black Myth: Wukong, even though when that game was released, it took the whole world by storm with all its aspects.

Lastly, no matter what wins, I'll still enjoy the game I'm playing, and every game must be a champion in the hearts of its players.

Thank You :)

To be completely honest, the “Games Awards” are a festival in which the opinion of the players does not count at all and only the specialized press. The best thing about it is that this wonderful man was there, singing and giving out awards, being totally sincere. Regarding games, the worst were the 4 or 5 times they announced a Fornite, !but this time different! WoW, instead of putting everything at once, it really was a waste of time. Because just by going to the game they throw it in your face. The 2 best announcements, the presentation of “Stage or Fright” was one of the best presentations. Now that the game is good, we will see. And for someone like me, the best thing announced was a “Virtual Fighter” For nostalgia

Makster's avatar

I really enjoyed the game awards. I think Geoff Keighley had done a phenominal job in terms of networking, marketing, and legitimising video games as something that needs an award show.

Previously I think awards were specific to game sites like IGN, gamespot, etc. or tact onto an existing awards show centred around the arts like BAFTA, or SXSW but nothing wholely independent.

If this TGA didn't mean anything then I think it is easy to dismiss it or disregard it but the conversation that comes out about what should be GOTY, who are the guests, and that gamers and fans talk about it - legitimises it as an awards show.

Lastly - I do really enjoy the fact we are getting a PS2 capcom revival with Okami 2 and a sequel to Onimusha

S

As a gamer, I have to say that The Game Awards 2024 was a mix of emotions. On one hand, it was incredible to see so many new game announcements and the return of beloved series, but on the other hand, there were moments that left me a bit perplexed. :D

For example, "Astro Bot" winning Game of the Year? Really? I'm not saying it's not cool, but with titles like "Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree" and "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth" in the running, I expected a different result. Even the nomination of "Black Myth: Wukong" seemed strange to me, especially given its not very high score on Metacritic.

Another thing: the "Game Changer" award. I understand that they want to introduce something new, but it seems a bit forced to me, especially considering that they removed the "Future Class", which was a really interesting idea.

That said, the announcements really excited me! It's always a pleasure to see how much this industry can reinvent itself. In the end, The Game Awards are always a great show for those of us who live for video games. But I hope that next year there will be more balance in the choices!

TGA 2024 was a very good show, just as the previous ones had been. I think it's really nice when the team of producers give speeches and get emotional about the recognition they've received, especially when they're small groups of indie games. In addition, the questionable moment of “game of the year” with Astro Bot being the winner, showed the strength that smaller games have had in today's world, where Triple A games haven't had the same weight as before, and the “simple” and “arcade” have been increasingly valued, it's nice to follow this change and this year's TGA reinforced that! Finally, I liked the new announcements, I didn't think they were as big as in previous years, but they were games that we can look forward to, like Virtua Fighter, Onimusha, Ninja Gaiden and Okami, as well as the presence of The Witcher 4 and even new IPs, like Naughty Dog!

The Game Awards 2024 was a great show, in my opinion. It brought memorable moments and maintained the high standard that the event always guarantees. Although the subjects of the awards are always a little controversial, I liked the results. Astro Bot winning Game of the Year was no surprise to me, it just reinforces the trend towards this more creative and innovative side, although other games are also very deserving of this award. The announcements of The Witcher 4 and Elden Ring: Nightreign were incredible. And the return of Fortnite OG was a great thrill for fans. I really enjoyed the presentations, everything was very careful. These events are very important because they represent much more than games and show the capacity these games have to unite people from all over the world.

The Game Awards this year felt way more balanced with a good mix of trailers and actual awards. It was nice to see developers getting the chance to share their thoughts and emotions during the speeches—it made the whole thing feel more genuine. I actually enjoyed it this year though it still is VERY long and was on to late for me to watch live the only gripe i do have is i did not like a DLC being nominated for GOTY, that should be only for full titles i think not additional content. I am also happy that Astro won, well deserved.

F

The winner of the GOTY was Astro Bot, the title represents a celebration of the video game medium. It does not simply "be a game" but offers an experience that embodies the magic and potential of modern gaming. In a competitive year, the victory of a platform like Astro Bot shows that the industry does not only reward narrative blockbusters or big-budget titles, but also gaming experiences that know how to amaze.

Astro Bot prevailed over a line-up of top-notch games. It probably managed to stand out thanks to its freshness and its creative approach, which makes it a breath of fresh air compared to more traditional titles such as RPG games. Although in my opinion

Black Myth Wukong was also a masterpiece, but apparently not enough to win the GOTY.

yan57436's avatar

The game of the year has ceased to be a criterion for the best game itself for some time now. I see the event as a great replacement for our late E3, in which the best game award doesn't necessarily reflect the best game itself, but the opinion of a certain group that will dictate that title. I believe that astro bot winning the award is a reflection of the way of thinking of those judging the award, we have a GOOD gameplay but nothing innovative, we have a GOOD story but nothing absurd other than a “cult” of the playstation, in short we have a GOOD game, but not a reflection of the best game of the year. With that in mind, we had some great announcements, such as Intergalactic, a new ip from Naughty Dog, a “new” elden ring coop, the return of the highly acclaimed Okami franchise and The witcher IV!. So all in all, a great event of game announcements!

AustriaFarmer's avatar

Unfortunately, I have to say that most of the games that were nominated didn't really convince me.

I think it's a shame that the game "Manor Lord" didn't win in the Best Debut Indie Game category.

I've been following the development of the game for a long time and am also a member of their Discord. I think this game has so much potential.

CelestialFlea's avatar

Honestly I wasn't all that interested in GoTY, I already knew the games that should have won didn't win. Personally I think Wukong should have won given how insanely popular it was as a brand new IP from an unheard of developer. I find it pretty sus they were snubbed, a long with Stellar Blade. Another game that took the industry by storm.

I was very happy to see Ciri again though, I had a hunch we'd be seeing Witcher 4 making an appearance and even mentioned it in a friends discord hours before. I am a little concerned how they're going to explain making her a Witcher though since by lore, women can't be Witchers. I'm just hoping they don't make a balls up of it, as I think it would probably kill any interest or goodwill CDPR had earned from 2077's comeback.

N

I thought it was incredible, I was extremely happy that Astro Bot won. I know that, for many people, Astro Bot shouldn't have been the winner because it was seen as a game for "children", but for me, who gave it a chance and even completed it 100%, it was without a doubt a fair winner. I was also very happy with the announcements made during the presentation. The Witcher 4, Slay The Spire 2 and The Outer Worlds 2 are the games I'm most looking forward to playing.

ScreamingRaven's avatar

Honestly aside from Onimusha and Witcher IV there was nothing for me what got me hyped.

Last year was waaaay better. And i dont get why there need to be a singing Rapper.

I would also love to finally get rid of Fifa in this Show, it doesnt deserve an Award. Its every year the Same. Nothing really new. The Stage Design was very good and i almost thought we would see something new from Kojima about Death Stranding 2. But lets see what next year brings.

Okay...

My thoughts on The Game Awards 2024

I am going to echo another reply here, AstroBot deserved its award but, if anything this game award has again shown us that naturally, new ideas are becoming an issue and it's quickly and always revolving around "remakes". This shows that the game industry really needs to kick its game-making up. Don't get me wrong, it was a good show and worth the watch and FF remake etc, but, I think the game industry is in trouble.

Also, who in the hell thinks sports games and racing games are in the same category? That's like saying Clash of Clans is the same as Red Alert!

Makster's avatar

Isn't racing a classed as a (motor) sport?

And there wasn't any remakes announced from what I recall nor did SH2 remake win any awards so I can't see how it was revolving around remakes..

FirestormGamingTeam's avatar

I may have worded that part wrong bud. What I mean is, we are seeing more and more "remakes" and less and less "new and innovative ideas" from the companies themselves.

Makster's avatar

Which remake were announced for next year?

avrona's avatar

Seeing how much people have been hyping it up, rumours of Half-Life 3, and what not, I knew to keep my expectations low, and to be fair even I was disappointed. When I saw that the only big real announcement people on Twitter were talking about the next day (I didn't watch it live because time zones) was the Witcher 4, I thought I missed something, as I saw people talking about several big reveals. Granted, I love CDPR and I am way too hyped for this game, so that does in some way make up for it.

But that's just the reveal side of the show. Apart from that, the awards were about what you expect in terms of the winners. Astrobot feels a bit weird as GOTY, but it wasn't a standout year for any game really.

I liked some of the overall presentation though, and by far the highlights of the whole show was Statler and Waldforf, the irreverent self-roast of the event that gave it some much needed edge. Just before the event I finished making a video retrospective about the TGA predecessor, the Spike VGAs, and one think I was constantly talking about is how the show is so bland now, but those two certainly made it a lot better.

Lanah Tyra's avatar

I have many thoughts, first of all about the rumoured FFIX remake, which people keep teasing for every award show since years. I know about the fan-made Memoria Project, but as far as it goes for an official remake, I wouldn't be surprised if the supposed leaks were from FFXIV actually, since we got 2 maps and a good portion of the storyline based on FFIX, with one dungeon surroundings easily being mistaken to FFIX footage. And from what I know about game development schedule, when the rumours started it could have been easily overlapping with the development of Dawntrail. I'll take FF7 Rebirth PC release as one major announcement though, but I know that a big part of the fandom is disappointed as they want FFIX remake news.

People were also waiting for KH4 news and left disappointed. So I think these award shows hype up announcements too much, and if people then don't get what they want, they go complaining on social media, which leaves a negative mood, shadowing the success of the winners and the joy of those who got exciting news.

As for GOTY... I'll just share my friend's video which he posted before the award to discuss the topic. We are getting GOTY wrong, and this is why:

🔴 THIS GOTY DON’T LET NOBODY INDIFFERENT 🔴

We already enjoyed the goty awards, the GAME OF THE YEAR and in my opinion, although there were surprises and others not so surprising it was good in my opinion, that is to say

I liked the announcements of the new games that Sony made, several games were also awarded in different categories and of course, there was the game of the year, which was won by ASTRO BOT It is a wonderful game although in my opinion it would have been better if BLACK MYTH WUKONG had won

but that was the decision of the judges and the public, so for my part I loved the game of the year that this year provoked controversy if Sony pay for to make Astro bot win (But Microsoft have more money and can “Buy” the price too) but definitely in one way or another Sony do something for to extra push his game to win

The point is that the awards have finished and it goes without saying that awards always generate controversy, opinions for and against which are respected, that is to say in previous years, some Sony games, some Beta games and games made for PC for Nintendo had won, so on this time , a Sony game won and that is an opinion that must be respected.

So maybe next year if Nintendo or Microsoft put more effort can win the GOTY why not ..? but we must be profesional and enjoy to win or acept the losse with honor

so we must enjoy it to play and don’t forget

Let’s participate it 💪🏼

My thoughts on The Game Awards 2024

Overall, the show was very beautiful, with many well-known names competing for various awards, and the 2024 Game of the Year was Astro Bot, which is a fantastic, very fun, and intuitive game.

I believe Astro Bot deserved to win the award. However, when we compare the 2024 Game of the Year with the winners from previous years, it becomes clear that the industry is creating fewer and fewer new innovative games, which is a shame since we haven't yet explored the full potential of the current generation of consoles.

0ffworld's avatar

I wasn't able to catch the event live, but most people I follow online thought it probably was the best one yet - even though there are still areas where they could change some small things to keep improving the whole thing.

I think the argument about DLC could be fixed fairly easily: make a DLC category. It's so obvious. That way, they could highlight more than just the biggest DLC package of the year, which was the case with Elden Ring.

Seeing Sports and Racing in the same category is also something I'd like to see changed. These two gaming categories are inherently very different, so just split them up into 2 categories and be done with it. The sports category should always have some nominees, because a lot of the franchises feature new releases every year. For racing, I could see how some years will feature more racing games and some will feature fewer games. Regardless, I think it's unfair to lump them all together.

I'm fairly satisfied with the winners. I'm actually extemely happy that Hellblade II managed to bag 2 awards. I can't wait for Hellblade III, even if we have to wait a long time.

Limal's avatar

Mixed, I mean the show is great and has good production value, but the picks... I started to avoid these major "reputable" outlets that decide the fate of these awards. I do not trust them; their reviews are more and more often 10/10, meanwhile, user reviews are quite opposite.

And giving Game of the Year to platform exclusives always felt wrong, even if it's Zelda.

I think it's a great opportunity for someone else to create a new award show, maybe based on statistics and user opinions, not some rigged elite 100. JustAbout awards?!

Hunter's avatar

Overhaul the show was fun to watch, a lot of major announcements (The Witcher 4, next Elden ring Coop game … ), entertaining moments here and there, until they announced that game of the year of 2024 is Astor bot over other titles that clearly one of them should have won it hands down, I'm not saying it was rigged, I will say that it was a bad choice, a console exclusive game have no chance in my humble opinion to reach the nominees, but to win it is kind of a joke … some can say what about God of War but we are talking about a moon and a galaxy here, yes we can't have multi genre game but it needs to be top tier, that changes the way we look a games, that tell a story a compelling one in a way we never seen before, that bring joy to the players, the player choice was clear crystal many months before the show but what we can do now ...

Oh well I'm disappointed !

L
  • It's a good thing that ASTROBOT won the GOTY award. Not every game must have an adult focus with the budget of "Avengers: endgame". This could lead to more productions focused on creativity and good level design.

  • Helldivers as best ongoing game and best multiplayer: HELL YEAH. Even with "strangers" this game is very addictive, I don't find this level of cooperation with random people in other games, its community is something different. For democracy!

  • I don't understand the "Best Esports Athlete" award, but I understand that the Esports move a lot of money, and it will increase.

  • I think is unfair that "Silent hill 2" did not get anything. They should create a category for best horror game. A lot of little studios are doing amazing things.

TrialByStory's avatar

I personally enjoyed the overall TGA presentation this year. The awards are always going to be a contentious subject, but I thought they were perfectly fine. I particularly liked that two different winners called out the importance and vibrancy of the indie scene in their speeches.

As far as announcements I was happy to see the FF7 Rebirth PC announcement. The Sony exclusivity reportedly ran out back in May, so when we didn't hear anything then I was half convinced they'd make us wait 2 more years like they did with Remake. Plus it comes out 2 days after my birthday? I know what I'm gifting myself this year.

Helldivers was another exciting one, not just because of the new content, but because I'm always the kind of person to mark out for a surprise 'And you can play it...Right Now!' announcement. And Clive getting added to Tekken is nearly enough to make me jump ship from SF6.

The most exciting news for me, though, was Double Dragon Revive. I have a lot of fond memories of that series from when I was young, and that trailer hit me in just the right way.

AbyKwon117's avatar

I loved all the game ads they made, I can't wait to find out more about "The Witcher" and there were others that also caught my attention, featuring Snoop Dog and having them sing the song they played in Arcane (I don't know the name of the artists) was incredible, what if I do not agree that the game of the year was that, it is a good game but I think that others were more up to par with such a title, just like in other categories I feel that many were not good but still congratulations to all the winners and do not discredit them for the effort they made to get there!

F

Super happy for Balatro.
I think that for a game made by one guy
and you're nominated for 5 awards and secure 3 wins.
Even being nominated for GOTY and Best Game Direction has to be the shot across the bow for AAA developers.

Also, very happy that Helldivers 2 won Best multiplayer game especially considering that multiplayer is PVE only, it shows that gamers are dying for an experience where it feels like we're all apart of something bigger.

Overall I was very happy for the winners and the nominees.

SIRCAM's avatar

Probably the most rigged awards i ever witnessed in my entire life, but hey, it looks like Sony paid good money to Geoff Keighley and his bois.

I don't like the direction this is taking and of course the dubious reputation they have created speaks for itself. GG's dear fellow gamers.

Beside the awards, I am excited for upcoming games next year. The Witcher 4 seems to be a really exciting one, which marks the return of Ciri and Geralt might make an appearance as well. The trailer looked so good, and I love how the devs really know about the Witcher world, with their settings and their main theme of moral and belief conflicts.

Also looking forward to older game franchise's returning like Onimusha: Way Of The Sword or Borderlands 4 (though this one is much newer).

Very excited for Elden Ring: Nightreign, as I play Monster Hunter, I've always said that the game feels like you're just fighting Souls games bosses back to back, and they're actually making it a thing, an original Souls game with Monster Hunter's game loop!

I wish there would be something about Half-life 3, or Bloodborne on PC :( but we will keep hoping I guess.

I'm surprised Silent Hill 2 didn't win any prize especially in the narrative category. I'm glad Hellblade 2 win in best performance and audio design, well deserved. I'm happy for best adaptation: Fallout tv series is a true dedicate work, i loved it. I don't understand why Astro Bot, Balatro o Metaphor Refantazion win so many price, but hey thats my taste. VERY SURPRISED Baldur's Gate win just one prize in best community, i'm not a fan but hey when it came out everyone was so enthusiast.

I was so happy for the coming soon games like: Turok, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden, The Witcher 4 (trailer is very spectacular), Onimusha (what a classic) and Borderlands 4. Finally pc gaming got The Last of us part II, we should get more attention but hey TGA had their way :/

Makster's avatar

Doesn't SH2 remake have the same narrative as the original game?
I'm not too sure whether it looks good that Bloober team would pick up an award for best narrative when they didn't write it and Team Silent did. Can't even give it to Team Silent as the original members of the development staff for SH2 don't work there anymore

Vivisector's avatar

this not mean that game deserve it anyway

Makster's avatar

who would it be awarded to?

Sturmer's avatar

In my opinion, GOTY awards should not be given to platform-exclusive games, as they limit accessibility and inclusivity for a broader audience. Instead, such titles should be crowned with a more fitting accolade, like "Best of Platform X," to celebrate their excellence within their platform while keeping GOTY truly universal.

The game could be phenomenal, but it feels inherently wrong if only 2.5% of gamers (excluding mobile) can access it. To qualify for such a prestigious award, a game should be multiplatform and accessible to a much broader audience, reflecting its impact and reach across the gaming community.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/420621/number-of-pc-gamers/

Makster's avatar

So there should be a category for best game on (platform).
What if that platform doesn't have a lot of exclusives or the game is later ported to that platform in another year?

Sturmer's avatar

It doesn’t seem to be an issue at the moment, as each hardware platform already has its fair share of exclusives.

Makster's avatar

who would be your nominees for this year for each platform?

Sturmer's avatar

Astro Bot, Hades II, Zelda, xbox is tricky as they stopped exclusively release anything meaningful.

I'm very happy because it was one of the most Japanese flavoured TGAs in recent times; Virtua Fighter, Sonic, Onimusha, Okami, Ninja Gaiden, Elder Ring, FF VII, Shadow Labyrinth...

Obviously I love western developments, but I had the feeling that the great and beloved Japanese industry, which is so important, was in the doldrums... but without a doubt this TGA makes it clear that they have the same enthusiasm as always.

I think Astro Bot is very deserving of that GOTY. I understand that it can be difficult to give that award to a game that is exclusive, but I really consider it a magnificent game, with a love in its development that you can feel from the first minute you are playing it, and each world exudes an outpouring of passion.

But, personally, for me the most important thing has been ‘Project: Robot’ by Fumito Ueda. I think it was the biggest surprise and joy I've had in a long time in this world of videogames that I love so much.

A great TGA without any doubt.

Sorry... Elden Ring: Nightreign

The best TGA ever! I was truly surprised and thrilled to see OKAMI 2, ONIMUSHA, the new SONIC RACING, and other exciting reveals like Naughty Dog's space game, not to mention the well-deserved GOTY award!

Finally, Fares revealed his new game, which not only comes out very soon but also lives up to the expectations—after all, Fares is a guarantee! And how could we overlook The Witcher 4? Even though it's not a gameplay trailer, it's spectacular! I can't wait to play it!

From the return of Ninja Gaiden with the opening trailer to all the other surprises unveiled during the event. Although I may not fully agree with some of the winners, as mentioned, this was by far the best TGA ever for me!

I want Farming Simulator 25 to win this award

A very good game has been made, many new features have been introduced which are very amazing"Farming Simulator 25 won the 2024 award because it revolutionized virtual farming. With features like the new Asian map, advanced AI worker modes, and realistic soil deformation, it delivered an authentic farming experience. Stunning graphics and immersive gameplay set it apart, making it a deserving winner this year."

I have many toughts, there are lot of good games which were relesead last year.

Fisrt I want to talk about "Black Myght Wukong", this year i bought a Ps 5 and I played it, I love it and I thinnk it's going to win, but my hearth have just a winner: "Dragon Ball Sparking Zero", for me is one of the best game of last 2 years and I hope it win.🤞

Other games I liked are "Astrobot" and "The Casting of Frank Stone" I'm nott an expert but I follow The GOTY every year and i'm going to follow it this year with the wish "Dragon Ball Sparking Zero" can win.

I made a video of GOTY, take a look, if you want.

- *Astro Bot* winning Game of the Year.

- Significant announcements like *The Witcher 4 with Ciri as the lead, and Elden Ring: Nightreign*.

- Multiple new game reveals, including from Naughty Dog with *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet*.

- A focus on quality over quantity with fewer but more meaningful awards segments.

- High viewer engagement, with over 154 million global livestreams.

Overall, the event was well-received for its game reveals and less rushed award presentations.

I thought overall the Game Awards was really great this year. The guests and hosts were funny, delivered their lines well, and it was really entertaining to watch. I was watching it with my friend and we were cheering along, and making predictions on who we thought would win. We were disappointed Fortnite did not win any of the awards, as we definitely believe they deserve the win. But besides that it was very enjoyable to watch!

The Game Awards 2024 was an absolute treat for gamers around the world, fulfilling all the hype and so much more. My favourite moment of the night had to be Fortnite showcasing Fortnite OG. Watching that classic map make its triumphant return brought back a wave of nostalgia, not just for me, but for the millions of players who've been there since the early days. It's a fantastic move on the part of Epic Games, showing how invested they are in keeping a game that has been the same for so long both fresh and true to its roots.

The announcements set the hype, and rightly so. The lineup showed some clear creativity and innovation, no matter the title or genre. It shows just how far gaming has come, really, and is a perfect example of Fortnite OG as to how it can bring communities together.

In general, it was a show full of amazing reveals, stirring speeches, and moments one could hardly ever forget. And judging by the reveals and the trailers, it is going to be one hell of a year, this 2025!
