That's right: to celebrate the release of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, we're dusting off a debate that, among FF fans, never ends - until now, of course.
By being the first to release on the PlayStation and in the PAL region, Final Fantasy VII was the first time a whole generation had encountered the legendary JRPG series. It was an instant classic, a clear peak for FF at the time, but as developer Square Enix continued an astonishing run of form with its sequels, is the ongoing claim that VII is the best now only nostalgia?
After the better part of two decades, it'd be understandable, and no slight on its achievement, if VII had been surpassed. But there are plenty that still say that day hasn't come. Which are you, and why? Bring your friends and let's rehash those playground debates one last time.
