No con is complete without a few standout Type B cosplays from 'Nier: Automata' - it's practically a classic now. However, I think the world could definitely benefit from more male cosplayers. There's a wealth of male protagonists out there just waiting to be brought to life!

I bet it's nice for the cosplayers to not have bulky props to carry around! 😄 Are there any specific male characters you think would be popular?

Astarion, and there will be many crosscosplayers of Astarion.

I'm expecting some Astarions and Shadowhearts but extra props to anyone who has the energy to attempt Karlach

I would like to see some WoW/Diablo characters. I love world of Warcraft and I love the cosplay of it when I go to MCM etc, you always see loads of it, also any Warhammer ones are cool because they take a lot of work to make it work.

I'm always blown away by Blizzard fans' cosplay!

I’d love to see a good Hello Neighbour cosplay, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one.

Boomer's avatar

I've seen examples of cel shaded cosplay like this before, but it'd be cool for a Hello Neighbor cosplay to have a game-accurate style.

I've always enjoyed group cosplays as if you miss one character, having them all assembled makes it even better. I was at a comic convention last winter and saw a Gravity Falls group cosplay. I saw the Wendy cosplayer first but it didn't click until I saw she was accommpanied by Grunkle Stan.

That being said any group cosplays such as Nathan Drake's crew, Fallout Vault Dwellers in matching jump suits, Persona's SEEs or Phantom Thieves, or XMen.

One thing I really hope dies off is Deadpool cosplays. I swear wearing that costume its like people think its a free pass to be a dick..

It's cool to see group photos like this 😊What I love are those organic moments when random cosplayers find their counterpart...like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader finding each other in the hall!

I had this sort of moment as Bat girl. I ran into Bane (spelling) and he shouted “where is he!?” Meaning Batman and it scared me. Haha. He was such an amazing cos player. Him and his friends did have a little group theme but they would always include other people as well and do little fights or so if people wanted.

Boomer's avatar

That's really cool 😊 That's what I love about shows! You were total strangers, but you shared a connection through DC and cosplay!

I did use to enjoy the cosplay showcase each day at EGX when I use to go. Id like to see someone do a real life NPC routine on stage (if there is one) or see them try and stay in character all day with stunted dialogue and looping basic movement animations.

That would be really funny 😆The conversations would be as random as they are in games!

Fan: Are you enjoying the show? Cosplayer: Bah! Save your magic. A warrior should face her foe, not hide from him. Fan: Can we take a picture together? Cosplayer: Some may call this junk. Me, I call them treasures.

Chainsaw Man is my choice! I think as a character it is a crazy creation but the love for the show would definitely mean someone puts some serious effort into the arms and head crafting. Would look brilliant done well!

Boomer's avatar

Can you imagine trying to have lunch, go to the toilet, buy some merch etc. while cosplaying Chainsaw Man? 😆

Brotherhood of Steel Power Armour

Honestly, there's nothing quite like seeing the dedication poured into accurate armour and witnessing someone lug it around on show days. I would've said anything Warhammer 40K (like a Space Marine) for the same reason, but the advent of the Fallout TV show practically begs for this specific cosplay to celebrate.

Boomer's avatar

No doubt the tv show will kick off a wave of Fallout cosplay! There have been some great Brotherhood of Steel cosplayers at MCM London over the years.

Always hypes me up and makes me want to start a new game.

Boomer's avatar

Absolutely! What's your favourite entry in the series?

Damien Mason's avatar

I've been meaning to go back to play the originals since Fallout 3 was my first. New Vegas takes the cake, though. For as much nostalgia as I have for 3, New Vegas felt like a packed game with little filler.

How about yourself?

Boomer's avatar

That's cool, New Vegas was a great game. Fallout 3 was also my first, and it's still my favourite. Funnily enough, I went back to play the originals not too long ago!

If you're looking for a companion while you play, I highly recommend checking out Ranged Touch. Their series Too Much Future is 50% let's play and 50% critical analysis of the Fallout franchise. I follow them for their podcast Game Studies Study Buddies, which they describe in a single breath as "your one stop shop for everything you might want to know about the academic field of game studies or at least the parts of it we have read".
