Some members were talking about cosplay on a recent WASD bounty, sharing the cosplay they'd like to see at a show.

Do you have a go-to cosplay, or do you try to mix it up?

I wish I had the skills for cosplay! πŸ˜„The closest I've come is fancy dress for a friend's birthday night out while we were students. Not everyone was told to dress up, so we all improvised last-minute costumes before going out πŸ˜‚

You know what, I was looking for that post! I thought I had dreamt the discussion! There are some great examples on there.

I don't have a go to, and I am not that talented, but I love watching people's videos on how they create some of the outfits. It is so clever.

I have done simple Poison Ivy and Bat Girl and my most ambitious was Squirrel Girl.

In a way cosplay is more intense fancy dress. Or where is the line between cosplay and fancy dress!? Never thought about it.

I wouldn't do yourself down! Cosplay takes time and effort to create, and sharing at a show takes confidence, so I wouldn't do yourself down! 😊

I'm not sure where the line exists really! Maybe fancy dress is theme-based or generic, e.g. 80's, sci-fi, beach party etc., but cosplay is specific to a character or IP?

Cosplay is always fun at conventions, especially when people put a lot of effort into them, MGM is amazing for it in London.

That was the main one for me pre-pandemic. I've not cosplayed myself, but we'd meet up with the RWBY lot because of their connection to Rooster Teeth / the RTUK community.

I can't imagine EVE Online lends itself to an active cosplay community! How would that work? Do you think Vanguard might introduce a subculture of cosplay to the wider EVE community?
