Twitch is softening its stance on perma-bans, giving some previously permanently-banned members the ability to appeal the decision.
While this might sound like a dangerous move, it's not available to the worst offenders, such as those involved in violence, threats, or illegal activity. I think this speaks more to Twitch's desire to rehabilitate rather than punish, and surely that's a good thing!
With any platform there have to be measures against unjust punishments, and an appeals process at least gives the member a chance to give context.
More detail is given in an article by Twitch, which even talks about short educational courses tailored to the specific policies that were violated.
Do you think perma-bans are a good solution, or are smaller bans and education more appropriate? Do you think people would be willing to change their behaviour to keep access to platforms such as Twitch?
