Being consistent is definitely on for me too. There are more things I want to stream or make content about than time I actually have. So sometimes I need to cancel things when life gets in the way of my planned schedule.

Finding the motivation is hard, especially when you don't have the numbers to encourage you. The content I've put the most time into to make, is the one I have the least views on, while a random out of the blue short idea will get more views. It's really hard to predict the algorithm.

For a while I barely had any engagement on my streams, and it can be disheartening when you know you are probably streaming to 0 viewers. But I kept going nonetheless because I was enjoying it... and lately I get more people hop in and actually start talking to me in chat, and it makes such a difference.

So, don't give up!

LITERALLY THIS LINE !! "The content I’ve put the most time into to make, is the one I have the least views on, while a random out of the blue short idea will get more views " Every time without fail, I work on bits that I really enjoy and it flops, the random stupid thing I say ( which happens a LOT when I am live !) that is clipped and thrown together will do thousands of views on YT shorts or Tiktok !!

IT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME !! hahahaha.

I am glad you have had an up tick in people attending streams, I got to admit I have done my time of 0 views and have a pretty consistent level of views now, dont get me wrong I would love to see them elevated higher but I am happy and keep pushing, but its mainly my long form and away from Live streaming content that is killing me atm, and it is legit making me wonder whether to leave the editing and pour ALL my time in to live streaming !

I hope you find success dude and you can build upon those successes !! we All lift together !

I feel ya, happens to all of us I think!

I would say my biggest struggle is knowing which idea to execute on, though I feel I am getting better at this slowly but steadily. I document TONS of ideas for content and can often get lost in the "looking for the perfect content idea" trap that i spend so much time doing that then i forget to execute on ideas or have to rush to create something, which is enver a good place to be as i removes the fun from the creation process!

OH For sure !! my ADHD likes to wake me up or Keep me awake at 3am with ALL the ideas under the sun ! and then I rarely put them in to practice as I just do not have the time nor the energy to put them all up for show! the one thing I will say is dont worry about the PERFECT piece, I have fallen in to this trap and quickly pulled myself out of it ! Just make the content you want to, regardless of views or audience, make the ones that excite you, obviously do the ones that you think will work too, but they should be secondary to the ones you enjoy !

MURRRAAAAY's avatar

haha yea the struggle is real! What kind of content is it you make and for what platform? Hows it been going so far in 2024!?

Kings Court's avatar

FOR REAL !! hahahaha I make Gaming content but when I am live I try to make the experience about me and the chat and the game is secondary ! On youtube, I tend to make game reviews and show off indie games, I have recently been making a lot of shorts around funny or epic moments that happen in stream, I have also started a new segment for a channel point redeems I have where I read out Am I the A*Hole stories and then upload them as long form videos to Youtube. Other socials will get the shorts usually a week after Youtube. One thing that doesnt help is I am most defo an 18+ streamer, topics we cover and language used are not for those under 18.

as for 2024, its going well, there have been some mental struggles with how numbers have been and retention etc, but I am getting much better at it compared to last year where I allowed it to really get to me !

How about yourself ??

time, or to be more specific, lack of it to fulfill all projects abd and ideas.

I feel this in my SOUL !!!! hahaha there is so much to do and only so many hours in the day ! but remember there is never an idea that is TOO LATE to carry out ! screw it ! do it anyways !

My biggest struggle is I get these grand ideas to start doing something, put in the ground work to get started, post the first thing, (if its content creation), then the reality sets in that it's like running a business and a massive time sink and I'm not going to be able to juggle it in my life. Not to mention putting the time in to get good at the skills required.

Give it a few months and I will come up some new ideas and repeat the same process. You can see this play out on various threads in this community I've chimed in on. It's super frustrating but such is life!

I completely feel this !

There is a line I have had to learn and replace a previous mantra I had, Practice makes Progress !!

So defo, there are a lot of projects we have that do not go well and in the end seem like a waste of time, but in fact they werent! They are learning curves, they are tests that hone your skills, for me it is editing ! I have gotten wayyyyyy better at it since I started and now I am making what I consider to a really good level of videos and shorts !

Use your ideas to the best of their abilities , put them out in to the world and hopefully it will gel and work with some people, if they didnt, well you learned something and gained skills from it, so on to the next project !

Energy for me. I enjoy editing video and writing scripts, but having the right headspace to be energetic and engaging is more and more rare for me these days. I really have to capitalize on a good mood and not put off recording voice/video of myself for projects or the mood might pass.

Kings Court's avatar

COMPLETELY AGREE !!! its so hard to do this when the "mood" just isnt right ! I also find this hard as I have a set time in the day to do this before my kids get home, but I also have the house to look after and other things to do too !! (as well as the content I am a full time carer!) So yeh completely get you on this , I have tried scheduling and seeing how that does, it has helped somewhat but also on the other hand I am so chaotic that something is always bound to come up or I had forgotten somehting ! lol. But it can help to schedule and plan ahead to try and "create" that mood, not sure if you have tried this yet ?

Horror and Cats's avatar

I've tried scheduling and it's basically guaranteed to mean I won't have the energy at the time I need it lol. Honestly, I just want to put out one feature/stream per calendar week. If I can do more, it's gravy, but I don't like to say which day it will be because as I said, scheduling energy is a perfect way to not have energy for me haha.

Kings Court's avatar

yeh that is completely Fair ! Also I have seen someone completely throw away the schedule model and it doing really bloody well with it, a friend of mine is sitting pretty at like 60 views and had no real schedule to speak of ! so it CAN work. Defo have one main stream / piece of content people can rely on and then from there as you said what ever you can muster up next ! I wish you all the best on this journey dude !

Personally, my biggest struggle as a creator is time, I love making videos and content with my team, but, with family etc, it's very hard to set aside time to make the content.
