Do you struggle with being satisfied with recordings of your own voice? There’s a reason for that.
It’s a universal human reaction called “voice confrontation” because the recorded voice doesn’t have the natural bass you USUALLY hear in your voice seeing as it’s originating in your own head and the vibrations are added to your perception.
I struggled with it for a long time, speaking in unnaturally deep tones to try to self-correct it and making my content seem forced and disingenuous. I got over it eventually by doing mic research.
Large diaphragm microphones will get you a much more bassy, natural tone. Adding in a pre-amp/mixer with mid, treble and base settings will get you as close to your own voice in recorded form as possible.
My favorite mic is the Shure SM58. It’s affordable, durable, and simple. Can’t recommend it enough for any vocal work you may need to do.
Just some advice for anyone else who struggles with the same thing 🙂
