Let me know if you find the same thing! I will say that the momentum of the views varies (how quickly the catch on and get put into feeds), but in the end they always do better for me.

Typically during the time I was testing, when I did one with notifications on, it would get 100-300 views. With notifications off, they reach anywhere from 3,500 to 10,000. Pretty significant uptick.

There were a few exceptions where the notified ones did ALMOST as good, but never quite as well.

To be fair, it's hit-and-miss on shorts, I've had 10k views today off three shorts so. and those where published to subs, but, I've just dropped another one and disabled it, so we will see.

Nice. Will have to try this. I’m still small and have very little content but I’ve received PMs from some other small creators asking me not to show my face as I’m Asian and the YT algorithm will limit me or something and I won’t be able to grow or go far. I don’t believe that’s true. I think haters will be haters and if people like you then regardless of race or gender it will not be that big of an issue.

😱 yeah that one sounds like BS to me. YouTube wants their ad money. If you make content people watch, it doesn’t matter what you look like.

That's pretty shocking. The only reasonable advise I heard from more sources is to not put our face on Thumbnails until the channel is more well knows, because this really works when we have a solid base of subscribers, so they will click on anything with our face on which YT recommends to them. And that sounds fair.

But to not show our face at all.... that's totally BS. If someone is confident being on camera, then hell yeah switch it on! I get recommended a lot of videos from Asian creators in tech or FFXIV topics, so I don't see why would someone be limited for that.

Yeah small channels putting their face on thumbs is definitely not recommended. But once you're bigger and recognizable it works.

For discussions where its just going to be me talking without a script I usually use a picture of me though, just not for GAMING. People don't care about your "shocked" face on a thumbnail if they don't know who you are lol.

Yeah I think it’s BS too. Not letting that stop me. What stops me though is I’m lost and don’t really know what direction to go. Most likely Gaming but I know the competition is stiff. Probably just keep trying blindly until something hits me 😅
