We’ve had a few betas' worth of opportunities to sample all five Diablo 4 classes now, but most of us will want to get all of them to Level 100 at some point.
Even so, you’ve got to pick one to start with - and properly enjoy - while everything in the game is fresh and exciting.
There’s nothing worse than struggling to commit to a character, retreading old ground continuously, and feeling like you’ve made a bad choice.
With that in mind, we've pulled together a collection of videos that give a good refresher of how each one actually plays.
If you didn’t get a chance to play all of them during beta, you’ll have a better idea of what to expect in each case.
A good starting point is ESO Danny's no-nonsense one minute TikTok video summarising each of the classes, and how they play.
There’s nothing deep in there that’s going to change your mind, but it's a useful overview of what you can expect from each class.
Let’s move onto each of the five classes individually. Just keep in mind that until the game’s actually in our hands, we won’t know for certain how skills and talents will be finely-tuned.
Barbarian
The Barbarian has unparalleled strength and expertly wields an entire arsenal in battle, with a weapon for every occasion. He bellows intimidating war cries and unleashes ground-shaking slams to send approaching hordes reeling.
Will suit: Anyone who likes to focus on close-quarters, weapon-based damage, get stuck into the fray, and stay there until every last thing has been mashed into a bloody pulp.
Barbarian Videos
Here are some videos that show off the Barbarian in a little more detail.
Vulkan's Barbarian video is a pretty brisk but comprehensive look at the class and its potential.
For raw gameplay - and nothing but raw gameplay - ReapsTV showcases some suitably brutal Barbarian combat.
Druid
The Druid is a savage shapeshifter, fluidly transforming between the forms of a towering bear or a vicious werewolf to fight alongside the creatures of the wild. He also commands the power of earth, wind, and storm, unleashing nature’s wrath to devastating effect.
Will suit: Anyone who likes to blend frenzied melee combat with elemental magic, and do so while shifting between forms.
Druid Videos
Here’s more footage captured by Druid players during the Diablo 4 beta periods.
Arekkz shows off his Tornado-focused Druid build from a recent beta session.
More from Vulkan again, this time focusing on the Druid.
Necromancer
Necromancers are cunning summoners that conjure vengeful hordes of the undead. Their Essence flows into three powerful bastions of Bone, Blood, or Shadow to bring low their enemies.
Will suit: Anyone who likes to either let their minions do the fighting for them, or weave dark magic to drain their targets of life essence.
Necromancer Videos
Have a look through these videos if you’d like to see how the Necromancer rolls with a few skill upgrades under their belt.
Everything's subject to change during balancing, of course, but IGN has posted what it reckons is some pretty broken Necromancer gameplay.
Toyhouze takes a closer look at the Necromancer's strengths & weaknesses, and provides some build direction to follow at launch.
Rogue
The Rogue is an adaptable, agile warrior who can specialize in ranged or close quarters combat. She can best any foe with her imbued weapons, perform powerful combo attacks, and can augment her arsenal with deadly poisons and shadow magic to slay demons with impunity.
Will suit: Anyone who likes to attack from the shadows, unleashing devastating combos, or throwing poison over anything that dares to move.
Rogue Videos
Here’s how the Rogue plays once you’ve been able to invest a decent chunk of skill points into your character.
Vulkan takes on the Rogue, giving an excellent overview of the class's core skills, strengths & weaknesses.
A slower-paced video from ESO Danny, but one that takes you through the Rogue experience right from the early steps.
Sorcerer
The Sorcerer shapes the elements into whatever form is necessary to ensure victory, from hurling bolts of lightning, impaling her foes upon jagged spikes of ice, and raining flaming meteors down from the sky.
Will suit: Anyone who favours playing the elemental mage archetype. Think flinging frost, fire and lighting all over the place and you'll get the right idea.
Sorcerer Videos
Here’s how that arcane destruction feels to play once you’ve started levelling up a little.
This is another long video from ESO Danny, but provides a great introduction to the Sorcerer class.
If you want something that gets a little more to the point - in a nicely-structured way - take a look at Vulkan's overview instead.
Useful Videos
Most players will have one class in particular that really grabs their attention, but of course it’s building the character over time that takes a little more thought.
If you’re unsure of how to actually build out your character, there's a video on Blizzard's YouTube channel that may prove useful.
This was produced by creator wedijo, in partnership with Blizzard, and as part of their pre-release marketing push:
If you like a little hand-holding when it comes to building out your characters blind, you'll find that to be 10 minutes well-spent.
(Don’t forget as well that although it becomes more expensive as you level, you can respec your character with gold if you mess anything up.)
If you’ve got any other useful starting videos in your collection (or that you’ve made yourself), do share your links in the comments.
