Great idea! I have picked up a few tricks with my current vocation that I dont think the devs intended, would be cool pass them on

My current and so far favourite vocation is Mystic Spearhand.

I discovered this vocation on returning to Melve.

Im not going to go over the basics of the class as the game does this however there are some skills that can be used in unique ways, well two but they have been really useful when fighting big monsters.

The first skill is skiedragoun's fangtooth/feste.

This allows you to essentially ground pound with your spear and the upgraded skill gives the ability to do it midair (no, it doesn't stop fall damage)

This is useful for crowds but if timed right can bring harpys crashing down to the ground to be whailed on by your pawns.

Its second use (and the best one) is to instantly mount you on to a large monster.

You need to possition yourself underneath the beast and then activate the skill. If you get it right you will fly up through it and land on the back or head.

As you can see in the clip, you do not use up stamina this way and can keep hitting them until they fall or fling you off.

This next one is Dragoun's stabbe/foin. The skill lets you jump forward to strike and the upgrade lets you leap further. This can be used to target enemies above the ground just....make sure you know where you are going to land 🤦‍♂️

Once you have these two upgraded you can actually use them as a combo against large monsters.

Jump before using Dragoun's foin and as soon as you hit the beast, use skiedragoun's feste to then jump up and land a blow on top, leaving you stood ready to attack.

This all takes a little practice but is so satisfying to pull off.

I hope someone found this useful 👍

Mystic Spearhands unite! Definitely the most enjoyable vocation I've found so far, love the fly-through-the-air-into-skyward-stab combo. Only downside is the tiny ranged attack is a bit useless!

Yeah that is a bit of a let down but charging it up can bring weaker flying enemies down though I dont use it much

Archer

I’m currently enjoying the Archer vocation in DD2. While it may not be the highest damage-dealer or the most resilient class, its versatility is what really appeals to me. As an Archer, I can strategically position myself on the battlefield to evade most damage, benefiting from ranged attacks to start dealing damage early and continuously, even when foes move around. This vocation excels in terms of effective DPS time, thanks to the ability to consistently target weak points.

Another plus is the Archer's capacity for instant target-switching, which allows me to assist pawns and focus on smaller enemies without needing to move around much.

Here's my recommended build:

Augmentations

  1. Vitality

  2. Verve

  3. Subtlety

  4. Exaltation

  5. Lethality

  6. Endurance

Skills

  1. Tempest Shot: Ideal for initial strikes on smaller targets or burst weak points during a large target's execution phase.

  2. Spiral Arrow: Useful for crowd control on small targets or applying consistent DoT on larger foes. Works well with elemental weapon enhancements.

  3. Lyncean Sight: Perfect for long-range targeting, but can be swapped for Erupting Shot.

  4. Incendiary Shot: Essential for crowd control and applying long-duration fire DoT. Note that Drakes are immune to burning, while burning Gryphons can’t take off.

Gear

DD2 do not offer much customization here, just choose bows with the highest STR. Opt for Rings of Aggression for a strength boost or Rings of Disfavor to reduce aggro.

Pawns

  1. A Thief as a main pawn for treasure detection (with seeker token daggers) and high DPS, plus their great survivability.

  2. At least one rented Mage pawn with Argent Succor for healing and Fire Affinity to enhance Incendiary Shot.

  3. A second Archer as a pawn can be useful for an aggro bouncing strategy.

I’m new to Dragon’s Dogma so I’m still figuring a lot of things out and trying different vocations. The one l’ve played as most though is the archer class.

I think it’s a good one to start with as it let’s you sit back in battles and help from a distance while you’re still getting dialled into the game. I generally try to find a nearby ledge or ridge to position myself to help prevent short range attacks, or at least make it more difficult.

There’s a useful skill you can pick up early on too called ‘Keen Sight’ which acts as a scope. It’s a helpful ability that’ll let you see more clearly the threats on the horizon. Another one worth choosing is ‘Dire Arrow’ which unleashes a powerful attack that can knock down enemies.

Lastly, once the battle is done, don’t forget to loot the enemies. It’s easy to forget about when you’re not immediately in the battle zone.

Have fun with the archer vocation and good luck!
