Kill of the Winter winner, winter 24/25: jnTracks

blurred background

Winter may not yet be over, but our Kill of the Winter reward is, and boy was it a difficult one to judge! All entrants won a well-deserved $5 prize, and frankly each of them could have justifiably won the grand $30 prize (so do check out the link above and watch the others). That highest honour, however, went to jnTracks whose Medusa takedown video showed us all what the Cobra Mk5 can do when its in the hands of a skilled pilot. Here's jnTracks's description, followed by the kill itself:

"One of my favourite tests is flying a new ship against my favourite monster: the Medusa interceptor! The Cobra Mk5 has size-four core internals, which is pretty limiting for fighting Thargoids. So rather than struggle to fit 2m2s weapons, which would require an overcharged reactor and overload the distributor, I simply brought 2m shard cannons only. No flak as usual, since I suck at flak.

"The optional internals are a dream come true for a small ship and it's super-fast and agile, even with a very competent combat loadout. I didn't max anything since I like to use lightweight armour, but it was plenty since this ship makes orbital adjustments very smooth and easy; avoiding fire wasn't difficult. I did feel the lower damage output but it was still a joy to fly. This fight was so much fun!"
