Epital - is best ship for PI, i can hold up to two full POGO! There are many fits for it on a Zkillboard, but for hisec i recommend

Planetary Industry (PI) is undoubtedly an interesting source of semi-passive ISK, as it requires a relatively low level of skill points (approximately 20 days of training for a basic start). Therefore, after the initial setup, you'll begin to have a small boost to your finances. Here are some tips and tricks that I hope will help you make the most of it.

The Epithal is the best asset you can have for your PI setup since it comes with a dedicated hangar for the materials you'll extract, as well as another hangar for your command centers. Additionally, it's an economical ship that requires a low amount of skill to use.

When installing your Command Centers, you don't need to go directly to each planet. You only need to have this item in your ship's hangar, be in the solar system where the planet you're going to use is located, open the PI menu, and you're ready to install the Command Center while safely docked at the station.

To set up material extraction cycles, you can do it from any solar system. You'll only need to go to the Planetary Customs Office (POCO) to extract the final material or transport it to another planet as needed.

In the latest change to materials obtained from planetary industry, I find the use of crates in extraction and/or production schemes inefficient. A launchpad can perform that function without the limitation of transfer times, optimizing your production.

If you don't want to complicate your PI too much, you can focus on extracting only P1 materials, which have a low price but also a low time requirement to set up.

If you want a bit more ISK without going into very advanced materials, I recommend producing all the materials needed to manufacture fuel blocks, as these have a high demand and their price usually doesn't decrease much.

Make the most of your account's Omega status and train these skills for all three characters you can have.

I hope this helps you generate some extra income to achieve your goals in the game.

My tip is a simple one:

Lava Planets

My other tip is a simple one

Unless you use the skills to run all six planets and further your own production, don't bother. running one PI planet is a massive waste of time and the amount of time/effort doing this will not come back to you in ISK and you will end up going "Oh dammit I gotta sort PI out again"

It's quite long and detailed and is at the more complex end of the Planetary Industry spectrum, but I link to some previous videos I've produced on the basic setup tips!

EveOnlineTutorials I promise I took your feedback on the <15 minute videos on board! I just couldn't make this one any shorter for the detail I wanted to include!

I tried to do a video on Pi once, got bored and did something else so respect for sitting through this one lol.

One of my corp mates mentioned that he set up a nullsec PI scheme that requires very little effort, and is passive income, taking around 2-3 hours per month, and will net around 1bn isk.

One of the things that i thought was key was this - as hauling is boring and risky business, get others to do it for you, and use public contracts to extract the PI to safety where it can be traded.

I don't have an specific details about how to configure it - I am sure there are guides on YT etc - but just thought it worth the mention that it is a good rate of return for very little time!

Can you setup courier contracts for getting things from POCO's? That's interesting...

FUN INC's avatar

I don't believe it is from the POCOs - he still does the in-system hauling from the PCOC to the station, and i believe he sets the public contracts from there.

Probably a corp courier system, even from NPC null regions, courier service is absurdly expensive unless you order the whole JF's volume of 340,000m3 from BlackFrog or something. I could work for a small corp or you pay 1.5b to get PI stuff worth 30-50b

My top piece of advice for anyone considering Planetary Industry (PI) in EVE Online? Proceed with caution, it's a trap (c). Let me explain why I advise staying away from PI.

Many players tout PI as a source of passive income, but this characterization oversimplifies the reality. Firstly, there’s a significant upfront investment – about 13 million ISK for skill books, plus the need for around 800k (ideally 2 million SP), which can cost anywhere from 1.3 billion to 5 billion ISK in injectors for 800k sp, depending on your character's total SP.

Beyond the initial setup costs, PI requires regular travel to manage and collect materials, which then need to be hauled to a trade hub for sale. The time commitment isn’t negligible either. While you can set extractors for up to 14 days, this yields significantly less material per hour. Optimally, you'd set up extractors daily. This routine might only take a few minutes per planet, but if you’re managing multiple planets across several characters, it can become as demanding as a full-time job. There's also the time spent hauling goods to the trade hub and managing market orders.

The income from PI can be underwhelming when considering the import/export taxes, sales taxes, and fees. Location plays a role too: High-security space is relatively safe but not without risks, especially when hauling valuable PI goods through ganker-prone areas. Nullsec and wormhole space present their own dangers.

Then there’s an option to opt for P4 and P3 production on factory planets. Again, you face the challenges of time investment, risk, and scale. It’s difficult to compete with players who operate on a larger scale with maxed-out skills and multiple characters.

If you're curious about PI, I suggest experimenting with a single planet to see if it aligns with your playstyle. However, don't expect it to be a gold mine. You might find that a 5 minutes of ratting in a belt can yield a comparable amount of ISK to what you'd earn from 'passive' PI.

I have a full size PI guide (in spanish) that you cand find here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIaSKfMHL9k

To sum it up my tips would be:

A high intensity setup using shorter extraction timers (1-3 days) will yield much greater income every month, but you will have to dedicate a lot of time to it and can quickly become a chore

A low intensity setup uses longer extraction timers (4-14 days) and will yield less income per month, but you will have to dedicate much less time to resetting the extractors and hauling the materials. Proportionally a low intensity setup yields much higher isk per hour that you spend in the activity.

The lower the intensity the least isk you will make every month, but you will get much better isk/hour

I personally recommend setting up colonies that produce P2 products in a single planet using 2 P0 inputs (2xP0 -> 2xP1 -> P2) and using long extraction timers to get the best possible yield dedicating the minimum amount of time

Hisec planets have extremely low yields. They can be good for factory planets, but you will get much better results setting up extraction planets in lowsec, null or wormhole. The lower the truesec (real security status of the system) the better. Don't be scared, the risk is completely wort the reward

If you are a ganker a Pirate you can profit from PI as well.

All you need to do is to sniff out where your benefactors' factory planet is* and setup a camp at the POCO. Then continuously scan your benefactors' cargo filling up with Broadcast nodes.

(*) sniffing out a factory planet and its owner - go to planet view, RMB on the surface - click “Show other characters network”. Zoom in and look for bleak circles representing command centers locations, click one and zoom out a little. Now look for pin networks. Anything that is composed of more than 10 circles may be a factory. Inspect circles with RMB to see what it is and who owns it.

This probably is not a factory per-se, rather just simple Raw → P1 → P2 https://www.instagram.com/p/C4gbU5SLKB5/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

But in this example, upon close check, all factory pins shows as P3 factory: https://www.instagram.com/p/C4gbyGeLKCm/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
