Here's a special bounty that we're running in conjunction with CCP. As well as winning our usual monetary prizes, at least one winner of this bounty will receive eternal glory - by which we mean, their name and fit featured in-game as an official Community Fitting!
To win a prize, you need to create and share a great ship fit for gas harvesting. Keep in mind that EVE's Community Fittings are largely used by newer players, so we advise you not to go for anything too blingy. Still, if you have a great idea for a snazzier ship, it’s okay to pitch something more aspirational.
CCP may make some slight amendments to the winning fit, but as long as it meets their standards, then at least one of the winners will have their fit included and credited in-game.
To win a prize and maximise the chances of your fit being chosen, read these instructions carefully:
Provide a full ship fit. We recommend using bullet points to list out the modules
Give your ship a name
Describe, for JA's purposes, why it's a good fit for the job and what its strengths and weaknesses are
Provide the name, username, or moniker you'd like to be credited in-game
Write a short (50-word max) description to be included in-game. That description will read something like '[ship name], made by [your name] for Just About EVE Online. Thanks to its [...], it excels at [...] and [...], especially while [...]. Best used when [...]'
The best part? We've got plenty more of these Community Fittings bounties lined up!

Gas harvesting in EVE Online can be one of the most lucrative activities for new players, and now with the introduction of Expert Systems, I believe it's a much more accessible activity for everyone. So, taking advantage of this new mechanic, we can use a Covetor with its equipment to extract gas without needing to be an Omega, allowing you to generate much more ISK.
Now, while the Covetor has a relatively small cargo hold compared to other ships, it compensates with faster gas harvesting speed (shorter extraction time = more ISK). This ship is designed for operations in Null Sec, although you can also use it in wormholes, but keep in mind it lacks countermeasures for escape.
Advantages:
Faster cycles.
Larger capacity than a Venture.
Quick alignment for escape.
Disadvantages:
Cannot use Cloak.
Low combat capability.
It's a great option if you decide to give Expert Systems a try. You'll be able to see the difference in extraction with each possible type of ship, and it will likely become one of your favorites.

Created by Orik Kado for Just About EVE Online, thanks to its faster extraction speed, you'll be able to generate ISK much faster. Additionally, it has a larger cargo capacity than the traditional Venture. For greater benefit, it's recommended to use it for your expeditions in Null Sec to avoid unwanted enemies. It's best used in the company of a Porpoise and your best friends (this combination guarantees 100% fun).
My recommendation for gas harvesting is the Covetor, similar to the Sturmer's fit but more costly at approximately 80 million ISK. Although harvesters have a longer cycle than scoops, the Tech 2 harvesters increase gas yield by about 36% per hour. Its align time is around 5 seconds. Another major advantage of this ship is its versatility and potential for future upgrades; it can be fitted with strip miners to effectively mine ore and serves as a stepping stone to the Hulk—the ultimate mining powerhouse.
Xen's Covetor: Optimized for gas harvesting with Tech 2 harvesters. Versatile design allows for easy conversion to ore mining. Fairly cheap fit allows this ship and fit break even in under 2 hours. Best gas harvesting vessel for controlled space.
This fit is designed for survivability at a low cost and low SP investment. Affectionately named "Baby's First Brick", this fit is designed to provide maximum survivability through Warp Stabilization and Effective Hitpoints.
Ventures can be deceptively hard to kill. With a +2 to warp core strength and decent stats, a well fit venture can shrug off a volley or two and slide into warp before you know it. This has caused experienced Venture hunters to include more scramble strength to their fits, or increase their numbers. Trading away the incredibly common Damage Control for a Warp Core Stabilizer, this fit can enter warp under even more oppressive conditions

Baby's First Brick, made by Brother Grimoire for Just About EVE Online. Thanks to its tank, core stability, and price point, it excels at surviving, whilse being cost effective. Upgrade this fit to Tech 2 as skills and income improve.
This venture design is set to make sure that new players can take part in what we older plays, like to affectionally called "Gas Cloud Huffing". This activity takes place in Wormholes. The fitting was made by the Eve Online Tutorials team collectively. Thanks to the bonuses of the Venture itself, this fitting will excel at Gas Cloud Harvesting and of course, due to its natural immunity to being warp scrambled, you can easily get away from unwanted visitors to your Gas site!
Thank you! I'm loving the Just About banner, don't forget this part:

Solid Fit for Gas Huffing: A Guide for New Players
This fit has been proven effective over time by many pilots and is designed for gas huffing, or ninja gas mining, in wormholes (WH) and other hazardous regions of space. This activity is especially suitable for newer players because it offers an excellent return on investment. The initial setup is inexpensive and can typically be recouped within a few minutes of gas huffing. The most significant upfront cost is a skill book.
I created this guide using a fresh character with no additional training or enhancements. Here’s how you can get started.
Investments
Even a completely new character will need to purchase two skill books: Gas Cloud Harvesting (currently priced at 34 million ISK in Jita) and, optionally, Drones for 125k ISK. The ship itself and its fittings cost around 11.3 million ISK. In total, you're looking at an investment of about 45 million ISK. You can cover nearly half of this by completing Career Agents' missions and perhaps running a few missions or mining regular ores while your Mining Frigate skill is training.
In terms of skill points (SP), you’ll need approximately 2 days and 18 hours of training to pilot the fit and another 2-3 days to do it effectively. However, you can instantly boost your skills with a free 1 million SP offer, which is available even after registering your account.
Fittings
The fit is designed to be capacitor-stable, allowing you to run all modules continuously. It includes a light tank to provide a buffer if your reaction time is not perfect, a Warp Core Stabilizer to help escape from player pirates, and rigs that enhance your escape speed by 40%. Additionally, you should equip a probe launcher for exploration and locating gas sites. Remember to carry at least 16 probes at any moment!

General Strategy
When mining in WH space, be aware that hostile NPCs ("rats") will spawn approximately 12 minutes after you arrive. These rats are extremely dangerous and will quickly destroy your ship if you're not vigilant.
Find a wormhole.
Create a safe spot within the wormhole.
Locate a gas cloud (avoid the Ordinary Perimeter Reservoir as it guarantees destruction).
Warp to the location and set a timer for 12 minutes.
Activate your Micro Warp Drive (MWD) and head towards the cloud. As you get into range, start mining it.
Begin harvesting as soon as you reach the cloud, then turn off your MWD.
Manually pilot your ship into the center of the cloud and stop.
As the 12-minute mark approaches, prepare to warp out to your safe spot or any celestial object.
Warp out immediately when the rats spawn (or if any player ships appear).
Notes: The reason you have exactly 12 minutes is that the site's internal timer starts as soon as you land. After it expires, NPC guards will arrive and swiftly eliminate any threat, including you. Do not wait for them to target or approach you; flee the moment they appear. Also, remaining in the center of the cloud may help decloak any hidden players, giving you a brief moment to react and escape.
