There’s an item in the game called “Pax Amarria.”

Then there’s an item in the game called “Pax Ammaria.”

And that typo caused an interstellar incident and grave embarrassment to the Amarrian Empire.

A year or so after the Tyrannus update, which added planetary infrastructure, some of the lesser-used commodities and resources were retired and removed from the game. I noticed then that they had been replaced by a stack of items called “Pax Ammaria.”

The item’s description was simply “This book has a history,” and contained a link back to an EVE Online Chronicle and the former EVE-Wiki database. While the database is now defunct, it has been preserved by EVE RP, and contains the original chronicle which describes how the book came to exist.

While the official Pax Amarria book was written by Amarr Emperor Heideran VII as a means of publishing his memoirs, notes of his reign, and personal thoughts, the 62nd printing of Pax Amarria contained a misprint – directly in the title.

The problem was the error was not discovered until the book had been shipped off to the publishers and distribution was already underway. A recall was issued, and the Amarrian Theology Council declared that all copies must be destroyed. Interpretation of the Council’s directives led some to believe that the mere existence of the book was an insult to God and therefore heretical. Rumors regarding efforts to hunt down and destroy the book indicate that some Amarrian officers and personnel responsible for the book’s distribution committed ritualistic suicide to preserve their honor, and that entire civilian sectors were razed over possession of merely a single copy of the publication. The Theology Council dismissed the rumors, but refused to release official comment. While capsuleers did come into possession of the book, a number reported breaks-ins into their quarters and attempted theft of the literature.

---

In particular, the original Chronicle reads “Once the Chamberlain's bureaucracy had exhausted their customary measures, and the screaming that echoed through the deepest levels of the Chamberlain's Residence had finally ceased, they found themselves at an impasse. Such a mistake had not been made in the press in living memory, and none of the functionaries knew what to do next. So they did what bureaucracies do, and they passed the problem upwards and forgot about it.

Some months later, a messenger appeared in the press, and handed the Foreman a note. Upon this note was embossed the most holy seal of the Theology Council, and written in faded ink, the simple statement: “all copies will be destroyed”.

The Foreman handed the note to his deputy, saying ‘I take responsibility’, and departed via the nearest vacant airlock.”

This is quite the read.

The Zephyr has a couple of truly unique traits and as a result it can do something no other ship in the game can. It's powered only by the solar winds so it has no engines as such. This in turn allows it to be completely ignored by sleepers.

The wiki and the in-game text don't explain why sleepers ignore it, but I do have my own theory about that. Sleepers are likely attracted by energy/power signatures and because the Zephyr has next to no emissions, the sleepers don't actually see it.

In light of recent sleeper incursions, this could be pivotal in understanding sleeper behavior and how we can use it against them to defeat them. Could make for a really interesting 'kayfabe' discovery that could be used in game.

The "Old Man Star" lowsec system in Gallente empire space is named for a lore story where a stargate building freighter was damaged, leaving a single man alive but out of cryopreservation too early. He used the ships defensive missiles to create explosions against the hull to nudge the freighter towards its destination. around 90 years later, he successfully build the stargate, linking the system to the cluster stargate network, to everyone's surprise who thought the freighter had been lost.

In 2003, a corporation by the name of Zombie Corp realised they could at this point, tank the in-game police Concord, the current and central market system at this time was Yulai, due to the space routes in the game at this period.

On the evening of that date (not sure of the actual centre date) Zombie Corp entered local and proceeded to kill over 100 players in the system of Yulai. Concord came in waves but the damage of Concord at this time, was not significant enough to dislodge the camp, with Zombie corp simply reshipping and coming back

This led to CCP i.e. the GM team having to take a direct step into Eve Online to stop the massacre. No official response to what happened to the players was ever published, with some saying that CCP teleported the players into separate Null Sec systems, and some saying the players were banned on the spot, as you know CCP does not publicly discuss GM action.

I highly doubt that the players were banned, as at this time, it was not an exploit, so it is most likely they simply received warnings about such behaviour.

However, a statement was published in regard to reimbursement by CCP.

"Regarding the mass killings in Yulai last night (3rd of March 2004)

As a lot of you are aware, a certain corp willingly exploited a fault in the game mechanics and managed to kill over 100 people in the supposedly secure Yulai system last night. We have decreed that those who were the recipients of this heinous crime will be fully reimbursed for their loss. If you are one of those who lost your belongings and still haven¦t petitioned us, please do so and we will see to it that your possessions are returned to you. The exploiters have received a ban for their efforts and anyone thinking of following their example should be aware that the same fate awaits them. - The GM Team"

It was, an interesting night and this set of events led to CCP fully buffing the living crap out of Concord, making then un-tankable, even in capital ships. To this day, Concord is supreme in their might to patrol New Eden systems.

Book of Records from the Amarr Empire. It's like this giant fammily tree and history book roled into one for everyone in the empire. It lists everyone's name, when they were born, who their kids are, and when they died. Emperors or nobles, they get these detailed write ups. There's this huge library in Dam Torsad where they keep all these books, but there's also a digital version so you can check it out online. Being in this book means you're officially part of the Amarr scene, following their religion. But if you get kicked out, that's the worst thing that can happen, you lose everything, your status, your belongings, and any chance at a good afterlife according to their beliefs. It's worse than being enslaved in their society.

The Book of Records comes before the making of the Amarr Empire with old school scrolls. The book had problems at the start but as the lore progressed became a staple in the lore. I find this very fascinating and interesting piece of Eve Online lore! 🤓🥰

Otro Gariushi had one of the most impressive careers in New Eden. From the son of a drug dealer to Guristas pirate to capsuleer and finally CEO of the Ishukone mega-corporation.

The Broker had to ram a Nyx, a super carrier-class vessel, into a station to end this man's run.*

*That part can be read in the novel THE EMPYREAN AGE by Tony Gonzales.
ISBN 978-07653-6390-944 - I greatly recommend it.

One of the lesser-known aspects of *EVE Online is the story of the ancient Talocan Empire. This long-extinct civilization was renowned for being a pioneer in wormhole technology, long before the current factions of New Eden* discovered it.

The remnants of this civilization are scattered throughout space, and players can find them through exploration at decaying structures like *ruined starbases. Everything suggests that some catastrophic event led to the extinction of this empire—or perhaps some other event occurred, leaving a shroud of mystery over what might have happened. They could have been a threat, they could have been far more advanced... in short, an unsolved mystery in the universe of EVE Online*.
