Today I used the word “scintillating” in conversation and had a random flashback to being a child and hearing it for the first time. It was an episode of Zoboomafoo, a children’s preschool show about a lemur puppet/real lemur teaching children about animals.
The titular lemur looked right at the camera and said “scintillatiiiiiing” in a very sarcastic way and it stuck with me my whole dang life.

I had never used the word "pedantic" in my life until I watched The Originals and Klause uses that word a lot so I looked it up and now when my kids act that way, I literally look them straight in the eyes and say "don't be pedantic" and watch the confusion register...
That’s a great one! You could take it a step further with “your pedantry vexes me.”
haha yeh totally, I said in another post I was out with my family, and my two little ones were playing up in a soft play area, they ran off and I said to myself "this family makes me want to murder people" and several people looked at me like, errr what
Have you ever heard of the Baader-Meinhoff phenomenon? It's when you hear about something for the first time, and then you keep hearing about it again in seemingly unrelated contexts. I had this after seeing a film called The Baader-Meinhoff Complex, when the next day I had someone tell me what the Baader-Meinhoff phenomenon was in an unrelated context.
I regret to inform you that you are living in a simulation… and it appears to be malfunctioning.
I don't know if this counts because I can't remember the film, but I thought the word 'segue' was spelt 'Segway', and named after the company, perhaps as a clever marketing ploy.
I imagined that people moving from one subject to another were sort of gliding over, like on a Segway. Made total sense.
It was only when seeing it written as a subtitle in a film that I realised I'd been living a lie.
