A Helpful "Trigger Warning" Site for a Sensitive Time

Crowdsourced trigger warnings spoilers for movies, tv, books and more.

Last week one of my cats passed away while I was running errands and I've been a wreck. Unfortunately for me, my preferred pastime and happy place is horror films... which tend not to be too kind to animals.

I knew about this site for quite some time but, while somewhat sensitive to animal harm in film, TV and even books, I could get through it knowing it's not real. I know myself well enough to know that won't be the case for a little while going forward.

I wanted to keep up on my horror films while I was doing my patented grief-hibernation and decided to vet all the new ones on my list through doesthedogdie.com which has been such a load off my mind for the last week.

I also realized that it's not just animal harm anymore and has come a long way since I last used it, covering things I would never have thought to call out. For instance, "Abandonment" is a trigger category detailing things like "does someone leave without saying goodbye?"

If you're going through a sensitive time or just want to know about triggers in genuinely impressive detail and variety, it's a great site to have as a resource.
