I think JA already has it, the issue with Mental Health is the stigma surrounding it. However I found here, that you can be honest and open about it and receive no judgment, in terms of JA I think the mods/staff just need to keep doing what they are doing and having a zero-tolerance approach to people who are toxic and attacking behaviour.

Thats my opinion anyway

Maintaining the façade can be tiring, so I'm glad you've felt able to be yourself 😊

My ND tendencies tend to present as issues in physically social situations like anxiety/awkwardness, so being a predominantly text-based platform is great for me lol. I have auditory neuropathy, but since YouTube videos are embedded, I can have my subtitles.

Also I think certain facets of the TOS will help those who have issues discerning when people are using innuendo/deception as those aren’t allowed.

Basically from my perspective, it’s a big “keep up the good work” 😁

Thanks for the kind words! 😊

It's great that subtitles are still accessible in embedded videos. They're so helpful!

It would be easy to leave innuendo off these lists, but it's an important one. Reading tone in text is hard enough at the best of times, but more so if you are neurodivergent or the text is suggestive or unclear. Also, from a moderation perspective it means harmful activities can't be passed off as just a joke.

Having a dark mode which still has shades of colour and not just a "let's swap white with black" is really great, the site is very pleasant to look at and doesn't fry my brain when I spend lot of time writing on it :D

And I think when someone new comes to the site and sees how open people are and how everyone just accepts each other helps a lot to make new folks feel at ease and welcomed so good job everyone so far!

You know I didn't really clock that but it is SUPER nice.

Exactly! It's supposed to be dark mode, not boring mode 😆

I use dark mode wherever I can, but not if it transports me back to the 80s!

I hadn’t even heard about neurodiversity until now and I'm not sure I've come across doctors who diagnose such conditions where I live. All I know is that I feel safe and accepted here. So, thank you for creating such an inclusive space!

That's really great to hear, and we're glad you're here with us 😊

I've lifted this from Google, so other folk may describe it differently!

Neurodivergent - differing in mental or neurological function from what is considered typical. Not neurotypical.

You may have heard of autism, ADHD, dyslexia, tourettes or others, and each of these are under the umbrella.

I recently discovered I have ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). It has an impact on my personal and professional life, so some helpful adjustments are being made.
