Hey folks, while Jason is away, you’ll have to make do with an Alex this week to catch you up on Just About’s latest developments. And what a week it's been! Let’s take a look:
Bug fixes and optimisations
Our wonderful engineers have been pulverising bugs with their usual aplomb and gusto. Some of the bugs eviscerated this week include:
Removing a forced double-tap on mobile
Neatening up old URLs
Preventing long usernames from splitting onto multiple lines
Fixing an issue related to editing image details
Solving an issue with unsent bounty notifications
Vanquishing the final remnants of our old and inferior text editor - JAComposer all the way, baby!
Automagical metadata
We’ve also made great strides to optimise our search-engine performance. It gets a bit technical, but the long and short of it is that images will now automatically generate metadata in a way that facilitates image sharing from JA to other platforms. Plus, Google now picks up entire conversations on Just About - meaning its search engine can detect just how popular discussions are.
Why’s all that important? Because it’ll help Just About get discovered and in turn help new members join the conversation. On that note, if you know anyone who would dig the Just About vibe, send them our way!
How many entries??
We celebrated last week when the emoji movie challenge closed with 30 entries and over 100 replies. This week two more super-successful bounties almost overtook it. First, there were 26 entries to Just About Tech’s earliest internet memories bounty and then 28 entries in Just About Film & TV’s retro TV ad bounty - all of which won a prize. We’ve now got an emoji music challenge live, so head on over and help us beat our record!
