It is really strange now with just a place that you post a simple thing, get your money and go away! It is also, like you said, hard to organize ourselves. And I notice that the bounties has so less interaction now since it is most of they are extremely simple and uninteresting!

The reward deadlines (for non-evergreen rewards) and number of submissions will be back soon 🙏🏽

I’m sure they will monitor how it goes. In terms of the metrics they are looking to improve via the change.

The thing to remember is the customer is ultimately the brands that are behind specific communities. The rewards are there to encourage & reward certain behaviour & positive fandom around their brand. So in my opinion I think the change is around being able to have more of what works well & what the customer likes to see/reward & less of what they don’t/what doesn’t work.

When I first joined, I just used to join every community and enter every bounty for the rewards & also to support the early days of the site when some communities were really struggling for members & bounty entries.

I’m not really a super fan of these games or anything, so not really the target audience of the rewards. Over time I think they have done a good job of steering the rewards away from things that anyone could do and more towards genuine fans of a brand/game.

I suspect this change (and whatever is coming over the next week or so) is again a way of getting more focused on this mission & away from the side hustle for pocket money aspect.

These days I generally just contribute like a games forum/news story comment section & its nice to get the organic rewards from these genuine contributions.

Just to be clear I’m not saying the OP or anyone else commenting shouldn’t be entering bounties. Just trying to get across the ongoing changes over time will all be centred around achieving the best content and interactions they can around a sponsoring brand & what the client is looking for.

(& also I’m just speculating so could be totally wrong)

The other thing is. Let’s say I want to advertise something on here in the form of a bounty/reward system & I have a budget of $500. In the old format the campaign could only run for the time the bounty was running, say 1 week & I suspect I would only have to pay for the engagement/entries it generates. I might end up only spending $50 of my budget.

Under the new system, the full $500 is available until however long it takes to be spent on that 1 evergreen bounty & if I want to spend more I can just up the budget & keep it going, rather than have to come up with never ending different bounties all the time when the old ones already worked well.

I’m just wildly speculating & could be way off the mark, just trying to think of the benefits on the commercial side in terms of one off advertising campaigns via rewards (as opposed to a full on sponsored community).

This is correct! But as well as it benefiting partners, it is also beneficial to users. There are so many great bounties we've run previously that would still valid now, but if you arrived after they ran (which is most people!) or missed them for any reason, they're now gone. And there's quite a lot of admin overhead in continually creating and closing bounties that are the same or similar.

We'll have a mix of evergreen & classic bounties going forward, as the deadline mechanic is ideal/necessary for some, but not others.
