Hello
As many of you know, I am an avid Fortnite player, and I have been since OG, for me Fortnite build mode encompasses a great fps game, the ability to instantly provide yourself with cover, edit walls, create ways in and out, around and down, up and across, has had me hooked for a long time. I also use this game as a bonding tool for my two older sons, we play as a Trio and often win matches, with them being so much more skilled than me, I am often carried by the two of them.
Now as you know, in chapter 6, we have been given a "shogun" kind of feel for the game. With a new "sword" added in and brand-new weapons, unfortunately, this has turned the new season into an absolute joke. With new "aim assist" being added to controller players (apparently using a controller means you need help? What?) and "bullet tracing" the term "Holy crap I just got beamed" has taken on a new meaning.
The previous season was IMO the perfect balance, with pump shotguns, tactical shotguns and the right snipers being added in, this created a perfect balance within the game, sure the mythic weapons were a bit of pain but they were not "unbeatable" as we proved with countless clips on our YouTube channel. This being said it was not without its frustrations. Running a solo match with 18 kills and getting mini-gunned by Eminem Mythic, is not a fun experience.
So whilst we had to re-adjust to the new season and it's weapons, with the promise of "OG" returning, every cheat, hacker and general scumbag has returned to Fortnite, turning lobbies into what is now being called a "sweat fest" and what I mean by this, is every "no lifer" as we call them, being in lobbies with new players, these players can build a twenty-story hotel in seconds and can edit faster than me passing out after a night out.
This makes for an unpleasant gaming experience, with lobbies dropping from 100 players to 15 in one "storm circle" and this is not a fun experience, whilst Fortnite is maintaining high numbers, rest assured, the average players are leaving the game. With the removal of what is called "skill-based matchmaking" which says that your lobbies were determined based on your kills/match loss ratio, we are now being matches against pro players using alt accounts (which is against epic T&C) to basically run around wrecking entire lobbies.
Entire Fortnite OG, now for me, I was super excited, this would be a return to the original Fortnite, no reboot vans, no speed building as it was limited to how fast you could place builds, but boy were we surprised, not only has epic screwed the pooch, but it is not OG.
First of all, it only allows two modes, Solo & Squads, which means if me, and my two sons want to play, we have to add a random person in we don't know, which could cost us the game. But, they have also put reboot vans in, which is not OG, having no reboot vans meant you played better, and harder, and you wanted to win because if you get "knocked", that's it.
They have also screwed the loot pool, meaning entire squads land at locations, there is simply not enough loot to go around, and there is also a serious lack of medical supplies i.e shields and white heals to go around which means the majority of the time, you and your squad are running around half dead.
The new "movement" from the current season has also been added into OG, this of course as caused outrage because in OG, this did not exist, but for some reason they removed "mini's" from the loot pool, these are small shield pots that give 25 health per drink. It is fair to say that Epic really has somehow, managed to screw up what could have been a full revival of the game.
Right now with Chapter 6, everyone is running around with Epic-sanctioned auto aim and OG's weapons and medical issues, I am flabbergasted that Epic games could make such stupid mistakes.
IMO Fortnite, is now FUBAR, on both main game modes, I sincerely hope that Epic Games moves to fix these issues. This cannot continue, weapons must be balanced, and skill-based matchmaking must return. OG is OG but you cannot add "OG" into the mix and remove things that caused the game to flourish in the first place.
