For me, It has to be Skrillex hands down. This was the first song I heard back when it was first released, I didn't know what dubstep was and this was the gateway for me. I respect Skrillex as he is a fantastic DJ, producer and entertainer. I was really surprised when I found out he was a guitarist from a rockband. I myself am a guitarist(rock) and dabbling with EDM, so immediately it felt so relatable to me on a personal level. It's amazing how he is able to adapt so many different genres and his music is just one of a kind.

I'm still listening to this in 2024 and it brings back so many memories. From the comments section, a lot of others feel the same way too.

Not really my favourite genre. but much of my youth was spent listening to pendulum.

most of their albums were absolute smash hits all the way through. they were perfect for listening to loud in the car. Working out. Or listening to generally as they were so good.

here are my favoruites

so basically most of them. I loved the early d and b days but the evolution into heavier guitar music is what really stood out. absolute favourite track is THE TEMPEST on in silico

I've lost count the amount of times I've seen him live, in my opinion Sub Focus is one of the best and influential D&B artists around.

Going all the way back to 2009 'Rock it' was released and was the soundtrack to me learning to drive (far too reckless for my own good). I've seen him in Jersey, Creamfields and a few times at Printworks.

I would go as far to say that anyone who's been to a D&B gig will have heard his tracks at some point, a lot of DJ's play his tracks and mix into them as they have really versatile and catchy melodies.

He consistently puts out bangers that are played worldwide, a true modern pioneer of British D&B. I highly recommend watching his B2B Printworks set with Dimension, the best D&B set of all time, I will die regretting that I missed it.

When I was young, raves and techno parties were a big part of my life, and artists like Pendulum, Konflict, and Bad Company were on my playlists (tape cassettes, yay!). But the best of all was Black Sun Empire. This group from the Netherlands, formed in 1997 by producers Rene Verdult and brothers Micha and Milan Heyboer, is top pick for me.

The reason I picked them is that they were truly distinct in the drum and bass scene. Their music was mean, aggressive, dark, and rough - everything I wanted from music in my teens.

Black Sun Empire's influence on the drum and bass genre is huge. They brought a darker, more intense sound to the forefront, which set them apart from other acts at the time. Tracks like "Arrakis" and "Breach" are legendary, often cited as some of the best examples of dark drum and bass.

This time, I won't provide a link to the original. Instead, I urge you to WATCH this awesome EVE Online trailer where "Arrakis" was officially used.

Their contributions extend beyond their own music. Black Sun Empire also formed the Blackout movement and festival, which has become a important in the drum and bass community. This festival has helped to promote and support numerous artists, fostering a sense of community and collaboration within the genre.

I don’t really listen to too much dubstep but I do know that the goat of it is Skrillex… right?? I mean the dude was in Wreck-it Ralph! Because of how iconic he is, and how he’s broke his way out of just the music genre but cemented himself in to pop culture has got to count!

For me, it's Skrillex, through and through, although this one, is the one I love the most. Skrillex was actually music they played in a therapist's office waiting room I once had sessions in, when I asked about it, they said ti actually helps people calm down, which I found very odd.

For me with Dubstep its got to be Flux Pavilion!

Absolutely love the insane base heavy bangers for going out a run or a tough workout!

In particular i always have on my playlist "I cant Stop" and "I still cant stop" haha they are perfect on a tough run in the pouring rain! They make you feel invincible!

He is also one of the founders of Circus records along with another Dubstep legend Doctor P, who is funnily enough his childhood friend! Circus Records is a globally recognised record label specialising in bass music!
