I have an issue where I hear perfectly fine, but my brain doesn't always compute and comprehend speech correctly. I always have to watch TV/film with subtitles and when in conversation, I tend to read along with lips.
Certain vocal styles in music can be immensely frustrating to listen to for me, especially. For instance, Sia, Shawn James and quite a few hard rock vocalists who I like have a tendency to use soft T's, D's and P's, as well and just softening pronunciation in general which leaves me grumbling and Googling lyrics. Once I know the lyrics, I can hear them, but it's really frustrating when I first hear a song and all I hear is the sound of bees swarming to musical notes.
One of my favorite vocalists is David Draiman, the frontman for Disturbed. Right out of the box his incredibly deliberate enunciation.
I know why people tend to soften certain sounds while singing; simply put, it's easier. But, I do love it when vocalists really punch those words out.
