Between work, life and content creation I've become a bit lost somewhere along the way. I've taken a step back from streaming because it had started to feel more like a chore than something to enjoy and I could feel the anxiety ramping up despite having done this comfortably for almost 4 years.
So why am I posting this in music? I'm taking some time to go back to what I love. I studied music tech and music production for 6 years, I was and am by no means an expert, but I've got a working knowledge at least. I've tried making tracks using a MIDI keyboard and VSTs but it's never felt quite "me" - I work much better in fretboard than in keyboard which is why I've bought a MIDI guitar!
A Jamstik to be precise.
I saw it on ebay and for a good chunk off of the usual retail price. I'm much more a bassist than a guitarist but between Tonespace (a wonderful VST that acts as a chord generator which can be triggered by singular notes) and my bass skills, I'm hoping I'll be able to work more effectively in the small windows of me time I have as a new dad. The combo of the VST and MIDI guitar will allow me to play a simple bass line but turn it into a solid rhythm guitar part instead.
I'm hoping once I get used to it and start working on some tracks that I started but never finished, I'll share them here and would love to do some collabs with people, whether it's with lead guitarists, vocalists or anything else!
And if anyone here has any experience or tips for a MIDI guitar please let me know!
