Apex strategies! Tell us how to take down the Humbaba for $3

One of our very earliest bounties in Just About Nightingale rewarded community members for taking down the fearsome Humbaba. By now, a good number of you will have lopped off its monstrous head, and we want to know how you did it. To win a prize, give us some Humbaba takedown tips. They could range from how to find it to how to do the most damage to how to... not die.

Humbaba is one of the hardest creatures to defeat, especially at higher difficulty levels. If you plan to take it on, I recommend bringing a friend :)

After fighting Humbaba, I discovered that its only weak spot appears to be its head. It doesn't seem to be affected by heartshots, or I was unable to find the right spot.

Recommended Strategy:

Opening Attack: Use a sniper rifle to shoot the beast’s head. This will take off a significant chunk of its HP.

Close Combat: Switch to a maul or pickaxe and rush underneath Humbaba. Most of its attacks are in a frontal cone, so attacking its belly is safer. However, be wary of the poison cloud it emits as a breath, it spreads widely and can kill you quickly.

Alternative Strategy

Using the Environment - utilize towers or buildings, like the Fae Observatory, to your advantage. Hide and attack through doorways, as Humbaba is too large to follow you inside.For this approach, set your companion to passive mode so you can effectively kite the boss to the desired location.

How to Down the Humbaba

To take down the Humbaba, you first need to locate one! This requires opening a portal to the Hunt Realm where Apex bosses dwell. You will need a Major Hunt card and a Swamp card to do this. Ensure the difficulty is set according to your gear, as Humbaba is no joke.

Before you depart, grab a spyglass for easy boss spotting. The quality or type doesn’t matter much, you can use the one you earned during your questing.

In the Swamp Hunt Realm:

Once you land, use your spyglass to look around. Boss names will be rendered regardless of the distance.
Walk directly towards the bosses. Your success or failure will depend on how well-prepared you are.
