Hey Realmwalkers! After going through over bunch of pictures from the latest Nightingale Discord challenge, I’ve gathered some incredible base design ideas for my next project, and I thought I’d share my key takeaways with you:
Landscape features are key – valleys, cliffs, and waterfalls can dictate the overall design of your base.
Cardinal directions matter! Plan your build based on where the sun rises and sets to capture stunning natural lighting.
Max out your GPU settings before taking screenshots – even if your game lags, the difference in quality is worth it!
Small, cozy builds with detail often look better than massive, empty castles. Less gigantomania, more character!
Keep the 30,000-point realm limit in mind when building. It’s best to focus on one project per realm to avoid hitting the cap too soon.
Interesting note: The game’s setting is a Gaslamp Victorian era (late 19th century) with its industrial, Gothic revival architecture featuring bricks, large windows, and utilitarian shapes. But our tilesets in the game are from the 12th-18th centuries, so you can’t fully recreate a Nightingale City scene yet. I’m hoping the devs add more tilesets to better match the 1840-1900s style in future updates!
Check out the full gallery for more inspiration! What do you think – do we need more tilesets, or is the current variety enough? Let's discuss it!
