The SMITE 2 fan art scene is flourishing, and no wonder; with so many gods, each having a distinct style, there’s almost limitless potential, which talented creators have been exploring ever since the first game took off. Now that the sequel is available 24/7, we asked our community of SMITE fans to flex their creative muscles and send us their best art work.
We were blown away by the submissions. 11 entries, each and every one of them fantastic in their own way, made our decision of who to rank in the top three very difficult indeed. After much deliberation and aided by the community’s upvotes, we managed it, and hereby present a gallery of the best SMITE 2 fan art, featuring new skins, animated pixel art, 3D Blender models, anime-style art, and more.
Third place: Pattedevelours
Pattedevelours took home third place with a mystical Hecate skin, featuring the goddess of witchcraft floating in the night sky, staff in one hand and a blue-flamed torch in the other. Look at her hair billow behind her!
Second place: Deelo
In second place, Deelo has a unique take, submitting some animated pixel art of Agni, the two-headed god of fire from the first game.
"I've been wanting to pixelate some of my favourite SMITE gods for some time, but while making this I remembered that part of the reason I got into SMITE from the start was because I was a huge mythology nerd as a kid. I think as we, the audience, have grown older, that part of us has worn away in favour of caring more about kits and meta relevance, which makes sense. We view this game now through a competitive lens so naturally we will focus on what makes a god competitive, not what makes it a respectful/intriguing reflection of their history."
First place: Dýss
Taking home the gold is Dýss, who has taken Mordred, one of the new gods introduced in SMITE 2, and drawn him in an anime style. It’s a stunning piece of work and would be right at home on the front cover of any manga novel, the greyscale art in harmony with the striking red is gorgeous. Outstanding work!
Runners-up
While we wanted to crown a top three, we set aside a few more awards in order to recognise more people who put in the time and the work to enter. We were glad we did because, again, we were stunned by the quality of the submissions - on another day, each and every one of these could've made the podium. They could, and absolutely deserve a place in our gallery.
First up is Shiny with concept art for Eos, the greek goddess of dawn, fully T-posed and ready to make her debut in SMITE 2 as soon as Titan Forge fancy coming up with her kit. We especially love the finer details and colour palette used here!
SYSBradmin has also come in hot with their take on the Nurse Nightmare alternate skin for Izanami, the Japanese matron of the dead, who appeared in SMITE but hasn't made it into the sequel just yet.
JHenckes has put the trusty ol' pen to paper with this futuristic Anubis skin, which they imagined while trying to retain the Egyptian god's distinctive features.
Ares's chains can be a colossal pain in the right hands, so AsDeEspadas1 has designed a scene where Ares has hooked Susano, Anhur, Sol, and Hecate despite their best efforts to flee. Most of them look terrified, but Susano seems to have accepted his fate with that wry smile.
Finally, we have Cloggedbean who has used Blender to create a 3D model of Thanatos holding the head of Fenrir, who they describe as the "bane of their existence in SMITE 2." Hopefully this Blender model works as some form of voodoo doll for every Fenrir in the game…
Which of these brilliant pieces of fan art is your favourite? Which SMITE 2 gods do you want to see recreated by fans next? Let us know in the comments!
