Smite 2 has been with us for over a month now, and Hi-Rez Studios is doing a fantastic job of delivering new content and adjustments at a high cadence. While some players have voiced their concerns in Steam ratings, I believe many forget just how early they’ve gained access to the game. They’re literally shaping it alongside the developers.
During Gamescom 2024, I had the opportunity to meet with Alex Cantatore, Vice President of Marketing at Hi-Rez Studios, and witnessed firsthand how passionate the team is about bringing this new version of the game to life. Alex shared insights on everything from the challenges of moving to Unreal Engine 5 to how crucial community feedback has been in shaping the game. His team is dedicated to creating a game that stays true to Smite’s roots while pushing it forward in exciting new ways. You can read the full interview here.
The Justabout Smite 2 community also continues to showcase their loyalty and understanding. Take, for example, the recent bounty discussions around balance.
Some members demonstrate a deep grasp of game mechanics and how things should work. What’s even more inspiring is that Alex himself wasn’t always a VP—nine years ago, he was just a passionate player like many of you. Who knows? Perhaps some of you could also become part of the Hi-Rez team someday!
What do you think—are players being too harsh on the game in its alpha stage, or are their concerns justified? How do you see Smite 2 evolving with the community's involvement?
