I'll be all-in for this when it's obscure but not extreme sports...

Many people are familiar with the Red Bull Rampage, known as the most extreme downhill competition in the world for bicycles. While I admire the courage and skill of the riders who dare to point their wheels to hell, there's another less-known but equally thrilling race in the Alps called the Mega Avalanche.

In the Mega Avalanche, riders on downhill bikes race to the finish line, with hundreds participating simultaneously! The race starts on an icy glacier and then winds through forests and rocky mountain trails, ending in the town below. It's a real sport, with rules, judges and prizes and you need very serious preparation if you plan to cross the finish.

For a moment I dreamed of participating in it and even took some training to ride in such conditions. However, family responsibilities ultimately outweighed my willingness to risk to murder myself on the rocks. So, I decided to remain a spectator, enjoying the thrill and intensity from a safer distance.

To truly grasp the danger and excitement of this sport, I recommend watching these two videos:

The first offers a spectator’s perspective

while the second is from the viewpoint of an actual rider participating in the race

  • Cooper's Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdKRx30s6sk So this for obscure :P There is no real entry level but you should know what you do. Running down a hill to chase cheese... sounds right.

Still performed :P

Shovel racing. Apparently first started in Mexico in the 70s and was a sport in the winter xgames before being banned for being too dangerous.

Here's a new york post video article about it:
