I'm thrilled to announce some exciting news—I've finally transitioned from DSLR to the world of mirrorless technology! I've chosen the Canon EOS R8, and here’s why it’s a game-changer for me.
Firstly, the EOS R8 is compact and light weight. It's lightest full-frame camera currently available, a dream for my frequent travels and extensive on-the-go photography. Typically, I carry 5-6kg of photo gear, and with events like Gamescom 2023, where I walked a record 83km in four days, every gram saved is a blessing.
Another highlight is the focus stacking ability—perfect for macro shots in my reviews. I can now shoot with a wide-open aperture, even handheld, and the high-ISO sensor allows for natural light photography without the need for complex studio setups.
For portrait photography, the 40 FPS shooting mode is a lifesaver, especially when dealing with the unpredictability of eye blinks and fast movements. Cosplayers often times are moving too rapidly while role-playing their characters.
Electronic shutter operate completely silently, an important element on events where noise is not acceptable.
And let’s not forget the video capabilities. The EOS R8 offers downscaled 4k full-frame sensor. Combined with compatibility with EF/RF lenses and its dual pixel eye-tracking system, it's not just a camera for vlogging; it's an excellent option for high-quality streaming, offering a cinematic touch to any content without post-processing hassles.
Transitioning from my trusty EOS 6D Mark II, which served me for 5 years, I'm incredibly excited about the new avenues and enhanced capabilities the EOS R8 opens up for my content creation.
What about you? Are you a DSLR devotee, have you embraced mirrorless technology, or do you prefer capturing your world through a smartphone camera? I’d love to hear about your photography and vlogging preferences and experiences!
