Has anyone on JA been scammed or known anyone that has been scammed? - either online or offline. Cyber security is such an important facet of using the internet and yet, is very rarely talked about.

I've known stories of lonely people talking to models or famous "musicians" online as part of a catfish not only wasting their time but also finances on them only to be ghosted many months later. Recently a family friend fell for a crypto scam losing them 5 figures!
I've noticed that whenever I do an online transfer to new payees - my bank warns against the crypto scams having to click through two warning messages before I go through.

It's a bit of a heavy topic - so I've linked one of my favourite videos by a YTer that intentionally baits scammers and wastes their time. The comments section is quite tragic as although Kitboga plays a frail vulnerable Granny, there are many many actual elderly people that fall for these and are tricked into giving away lots of their savings
