Imagine SMITE 2 was a card game and design one of the cards!

I made quite a few cards and thought a bit about the mechanics that might be involved if they were in a real card game.

Your Hero:

Your Hero would probably be a head of a Pantheon like Zeus, Odin, etc. and they have a mana pool that is used to cast God abilities while they're on your board. I made the Mana Potion item as a showcase of how you could restore mana throughout a match.

The Gods:

You play Gods onto your board and they can attack enemy Gods. Not sure if I would want them to be able to attack the enemy Hero and that's how you win, similar to games like Magic or Hearthstone. Or if you would win by eliminating a certain number of enemy Gods like the Pokemon TCG. Either could work really.

The Items:

SMITE's items are an iconic part of the game so I wanted to include those as well. You can equip one item at once to any God on your board and they have an associated effect like Mystical Mail increasing health and dealing passive tick damage every turn to enemy Gods, or Heartseeker adding a % max health damage component to the wielding God's attacks.

The Game Modes (as location cards):

The game modes are also a big part of SMITE and I thought it would be fun to make Location Cards based on the modes such as Joust which limits both players' board size to 3 while its on the field as an homage to the game mode Joust in SMITE.

There's a ton more you could explore with a SMITE card game but this is just my attempt at spitballing some ideas and showcasing my (admittedly poor) graphic design skills in creating the cards!

Addendum: Didn't realize it had to be ONLY smite 2 Gods, disregard the Kuzenbo card*

ASSAULT

Arguably the most unique mode in SMITE 2, Assault does several things different than your typical game mode:

  • God picks are completely random (with 1 re-roll per player)

  • There's no recalling to base to buy items or heal. The only way to do that is death.

  • It's single-lane with no surrounding Jungle area whatsoever.

This combination of factors lead to a wildly different experience than you'll get in Conquest, Assault or Arena and it's one my favorite modes because of it. You simply can't find anything like Assault anywhere else.

MY PERSONAL TIPS:

Due to this uniqueness, the 'meta' of Assault is very different to any other mode and even some Gods or items that are top tier in Conquest or Joust might be awful in Assault and vice-versa, so here's a few tips you can use to get the edge in Assault for SMITE 2!

  • An obvious one, but healing/regeneration is VERY strong in Assault. There is a system where if one team gets a 'healer god' (Currently Aphrodite, Ra, Yemoja, Baron Samedi and Cupid) then the other team also gets one. DON'T REROLL YOUR TEAM'S HEALER unless you want to almost certainly lose that match. You might not enjoy the God, but at the very least try to trade it to an ally and don't just reroll it. You're not guaranteed to get another healer if you roll and it will pretty much lose you the game on the spot.

  • On a similar note, healing items are also amazing. Amanita Charm is one that most if not all tank builds should have, often as your first item. It heals your whole team on a relatively short cooldown and can often heal as much as a Healer God throughout the match. It's VERY strong. Other heal items are also good like Yogi's Necklace and Phoenix Feather.

  • Because healing is strong, anti-healing is also strong! Buying items like Divine Ruin, Brawler's Ruin and Ruinous Ankh will greatly increase your chances of winning, especially against teams with a Healer. You might do slightly less damage or be slightly less tanky than a build without it, but the Anti-heal is invaluable in this mode.

  • Tanks are also incredibly strong in Assault. The mode is all about fighting and longevity, having no tanks makes the match VERY rough for your team as you don't have anyone to control space and crowd control enemies. Without tanks, you'll get permanently pushed under your tower and won't have a good time. Just like healers, try to avoid re-rolling tanks unless you absolutely have to, try trading them away first.

  • Poking is also very important. Having Gods on your team that have easy to hit, long range poke abilities is one of the strongest features you can have in Assault. Since everyone is always staring at each other in a single lane, the team that pokes better will win the long game since you can't reliably heal. So any Gods will reliable, long-range poke will be excellent in this mode

  • DON'T INTERRUPT JUMP PARTIES. If everyone is jumping and emoting in the lane before minions spawn, don't start trying to kill people or I will personally snipe every Assault game you play and focus you the whole match, thank you :)

But that's Assault! Hopefully these tips have been helpful for you but don't forget to just have fun, this mode isn't taken too seriously a lot of the time as you may have gathered from my last tip. The randomness and wild ruleset makes it so tryharding to the max in this mode isn't that common and you can just goof around and have some good fun.
