I know it's early, but I've seen and heard so much hype about Dave the Diver, and it's a new and fun game rising from obscurity.
Just like Vampire Survivors last year, i think this is the surprise hit of the year, and it'll be on a few lists.
I reckon Dome Keeper could be another along these lines, but it's not got quite the same charm.

Another hot take: I think that upstart Starfield might factor into lists too.
It sounds fantastic, I'm basically just waiting for a Switch release. There's pretty stiff competition this year, with Zelda obviously, and then Armored Core and Starfield shaping up to be pretty great. I'd also put Street Fighter 6 in there, too, but Dave The Diver definitely looks set to be THE indie game that makes it into the discussion
Interesting tidbit: MINTROCKET is actually a Nexon studio. Let's see if we get more of these faux-indie studios from Asia targeting the western "indie" player audience.
