Not all of them are indie, but in most of them the technical constraints are what give them the horrifying edge.
Resident Evil and its nightmarish camera angles really ratcheted up the fear. Silent Hill and the fog obscuring your vision (removing the need to render too much on screen!) let your mind run wild with anxiety.
Still, I'm disappointed not to see Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion on the list! 😆
