I used to be really into Counter Strike and Halo is one of my favourite games, but I never really found the time to watch the tournaments!

Before starting with Just About I was a lecturer for a few years delivering Data Analytics for Esports, so I was always more interested in the stats rather than watching the actual gameplay 😅

I used to compete at an amateur level in Call of Duty from 2009-2013 or so, while I was still in school. The UK competitive COD scene back then was in its infancy - the first major event for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (which happened in 2010, due to everyone agreeing it was the best game to play on LAN) - had a total prize pool of £4000, split between £3500 for the main event, and £500 for the free-for-all tournament. I was 14 at the time - I didn't make it to another event until 2013, and I didn't place in the money, but it was an excellent experience. One of the chaps I would play with regularly - and plenty of the people we often played against - made it big and competed in the COD League for years in its current iteration. I often wonder what could've been if I'd stuck at it!

That's awesome! Remind me not to go up against you in COD then 😝

Ha, I definitely do not have the skills anymore! I'm slightly better than average at best these days. COD esports is the only FPS that has consistently taken place on console too, and since I've been a PC player for the last 7-8 years or so, aiming with a controller is hard.
