The setting of Sanctuary is lore-rich and action-heavy, so there's plenty of scope for experimenting with the world.
The Dark Souls-esque third-person action game mentioned at the end of the article sounds like it would really work, bringing a much more deliberate (and less frenetic!) pace.
I know they're likely not referring to breaking the genre or radically redesigning the gameplay, but it doesn't hurt to wonder!
