I'm a few hours in, and I've already accidentally murdered one of my companions and chopped the arm off another one. At this rate I'm heading towards a solo playthrough.

My other half played it as his first playthrough and its pretty brutal. Within about a day he discovered a bunch of articles online saying never do it for your first go!
The problem is I want to do a hardcore mode tactician playthrough on my second attempt. And that seems like a recipe for disaster
I feel like resist the Dark Urge and save scum to force good outcomes is probably the best way to play if you're only going to do one playthrough.
I went completionist, save-scum, see-everything mode for my first playthrough in order to liberate myself for a heedless, evil, everyone-gets-killed, tactician mode Durge on my second. Only downside is I've no idea if I'll actually have the time/eagerness to complete it, so may not ever see any of the Dark Urge stuff, which is meant to be amazing.
