It makes sense with the lack of backward compatibility on account of the cell architecture being a bitch to emulate. The benefit of everything being x86-64 is the scalability and transferability of games from one platform to another. PS3 was a beast but it really did shoot itself in the foot long-term.

My main question is what, exactly, are they playing? If it's strictly PS3 exclusives, then the above holds up. If it's multiplatform games, then that is a bit more of a headscratcher.

I was very late to the game with PS3. I completed MGS4 on a friend's system since I was a mega fan of the series but I didn't get one of my own until probably the final year before PS4 came out.

Some people might be happy with the games they already got and didn't upgrade to a newer console or have newer consoles but don't have a PC so they still play games on this one which are not available on PS4/PS5.

If I still had mine I would be playing FFXIII on it (I know it's available on PC too but, what how could you play FFXIII on a PC when you used to have the limited edition Lightning PS3? :D)

Yes, special import from Japan. Had to sell it when I moved to the UK as I needed every little bit of money I could get. Kinda regretting it now...

I still have mine though it's really in need of a clean out because it sounds like you're at an airshow when that thing powers up and takes off!

I didn't keep many games for mine but I do still have The Puppeteer saved on there and I have my hard copy of Alice Madness Returns for it too! Along with the Alice art book too which I received 10 years ago (pictured below also in shot some of the games I had for my PS3 10 years ago!)
