Sephiroth will have a much greater role in FF7 Rebirth, which will delve further into his personality, his descent into insanity after discovering his origins, and even show more of him in the world map during your pursuit.
It was always cool to see more Sephiroth in his post-FF7 appearances (eg Advent Children) and cameos (eg Kingdom Hearts) but they did feel a bit forced and fan servicey at times. The prospect of seeing more of him in the remake of his original storyline is really exciting!
