It's been a few days since the BAFTA Games Awards took place, so how are we feeling about the winners?
Are there any surprise wins, unfortunate absences, or any unexpected games you'll go back and play?

Kind of surprised that FFXIV didn't get the Evolving Game award. I know Cyberpunk has improved a lot after the bumpy start, but FFXIV changed a lot during the past 2 years in keeping the game engaging even after 10 years and became more accessible for a wider community by the addition of the Duty Support system to complete dungeons with NPCs instead of other players. Classes got completely reworked to be more suitable for players' expectations today.
In the other categories even though I love FFXVI I salute the winners for being amazing and it's an award well deserved for them, but this one is the second ongoing game award Cyberpunk snitched from us and I just don't see it why.
I think the launch hype and performance issues left a really bad impression of Cyberpunk. The updates and DLC didn't just fine tune the game, they effectively transformed it entirely.
I'm not saying that makes it better or more deserving, but I can see why it may stand out more to the voting committee.
My only gripe with Cyberpunk 2077 winning that award is that "evolving game" implies something that is continuously improving, which you'd assume is reserved for multiplayer/live service games. Cyberpunk receiving one massive overhaul isn't "evolving", more "evolved". It's a phenomenal game now, but this rings even more true when you compare it to the other nominees, which are all GaaS.
I agree, that's why I thought they would give it to an mmo which is constantly evolving to keep up with the standards and expectations of current times.
The take home message for me was that I need to play Dave the Diver and Viewfinder!
I am just getting back into the general gaming news and community so for me it was interesting to see what the judges selected as nominees as well as winners. I am interested in checking out the ones in narrative and beyond entertainment and seeing what I like there. Just for a different perspective,
From the winners I’ll be checking out viewfinder and Dave the diver but Venba looks interesting to me too.
