I despise Microtransactions personally. IMO, all content should either be in a free version of it in terms of "this is what you get for the free version" or a sub-based game. I understand why they do it, I just don't like it.

Micro transactions and paid dlc are both very peev-y for me. I couldn’t believe that the RE4 remake charged $10 for a dlc which was included in all versions PS2 and onward.

there is a fine line. I’ve paid for cosmetics before or extra content for games I’ve really enjoyed but gamers can tell when it’s gone too far..

Taking fun way from people in video games should be illegal.

Blizzard are notorious for this "people having too much fun with this vanity toy, lets make effect duration 30 sec and a 60 min cooldown."

But for 1000 gold coins which cost a cent each you can have it unlimited! Lol

Predatory special editions.. This kinda covers a pretty broad spectrum of stuff though.

For those not in the know BattlestateGames, the developers of Tarkov added a $250 edition of the game, where they initially tried to say that the new PVE mode they included with the edition WAS NOT a DLC. Even though by very definition, it was. However here's the kicker, they had originally promised this would be included with another edition; called Edge of Darkness. Which also stated that they would get all future DLC's.

Let's just say this didn't go over well with the community and it created one of the biggest scandals since Gamergate 2, which just about every looter shooter game got in on poking fun at them.

I think these highly predatory editions of video games (I'm talking mostly about ones that cost in excess of $100, not ones where you get unique PHYSICAL collectors items that have value), particularly ones that introduce elements of FOMO. Like Ubisofts $120 edition of Outlaws introducing 3 days early access, etc. Are in desperate need of tighter control and guidelines in consumer regulations.

Oh for sure, those digital editions are out of control. The things you get are either a HUGE and unfair advantage in the vein of pay-to-win, or they are cosmetics and promises in future content which isn’t guaranteed to be good or even come out.

There's a line for me when it comes to pay-to-win; for example in a skill and knowledge based game like Tarkov "Pay for convenience" items, like more inventory space etc are generally acceptable as guns and extra space aren't going to win you any pvp fights by themselves. But it crosses the line for me when it includes items that could change the whole dynamic of a battle and gives you an advantage others CANNOT achieve by earning it through gameplay.

wasn’t there also a recent release with early access but then the game broke within the first half of the day and was taken down. I don’t mind this but early access was a perk included in the price and I wonder if the developers will refund the people who paid for the limited edition with early access. I can’t find an article let alone remember the game’s name though

microtransactions / battle passes in full price games.

And ultimate / collectors editions coming with only digital items, the should come with statues and incredible collectibles for the price now some in game skins.

100%. Like not even hyperbole, it should be literally illegal lol

One button to skip cutscenes should be illegal especially if it's not indicated

It's really frustrating to get past a boss or difficult part of the level, rewarded with the cutscene and as you put your controller down it skips the cutscene. More modern games are better as it lets you finally pause cutscenes with the option to skip but many older games and HD remasters sadly did not have this function

Horror and Cats's avatar

I can’t think of a specific time that happened but I KNOW it’s happened. Nowadays it’s usually hold to skip, at least in the games I have played, but I’m pretty sure I accidentally skipped one of the ending cutscenes in Twisted Metal games on PSX.

MOTION BLUR !!! just NO !! especially when streaming it seems to make things so glitchy !! hahahaha

Horror and Cats's avatar

I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone to have such strong feelings about motion blur lmao

Kings Court's avatar

ghahaha there are some games where it is really off puitting, but also it can be a real drag on the GFX for the game and makes OBS go Brrrrr. lol
