This weekend was fantastic for gaming fans in Brussels - Gameforce was buzzing, but it all kicked off on Friday with the Belgian Game Awards 2024! With over 50 nominees in 14 categories, it was an incredible showcase of talent.
I've put together a post with the full list of winners and some history behind the awards. My main takeaway? Baldur's Gate 3 absolutely dominated, taking home 5 awards including Game of the Year. Another standout was BrainBugs, recognized for their unique approach to tackling social, ethical, and cultural issues through gamification.
And let's not forget Please, Touch The Artwork 2, an amazing project from a single developer - pure passion! The entire show had a wonderfully cozy and celebratory atmosphere.

Anyways, some people think that Larian set the new quality standard too high, making it very difficult for other studios to meet players' expectations. Others (including myself) think that they proved a high demand for classic RPGs, paired with modern tech to open big variability. What is your opinion on it?
