I was able to get my hands on one thanks to a buddy that is in the tech reviewing space.
The Verge's criticism is only valid for a lot of modern consumers that value those that create the products and whether they have an issue with their personal/professional demeanour, save states (a modern emulator feature), and large hands (again this wasn't an issue in the past).
I love my ModRetro. I inherited a load of Game Boy games and spent most of the boxing day swapping and trading games with my family around the TV. Took me right back to the 90's playing gmaes in front of the TV on Christmas day
