Most of the discussions here are about playing video games, but has anyone here tried making any before?
This week I'm taking part in a local game jam and it's the first I've joined in over a decade!
Needless to say I'm a little rusty so I'm starting small and using Twine. If all goes well I'll end up making a rogue-like slice-of-life narrative adventure.

Thanks MURRRAAAAY! So far I've:
written the first draft of the design doc
designed the core gameplay loop on paper
decided on the victory and loss conditions
started work on a rough version of navigation and inventory management as they're two of the three core systems (dialogue being the third)
The big challenge will be the art and audio as I'm a rubbish coder but a worse artist and musician! 😂
Dude that’s super impressive! I’d just think of the output as the minimum viable product at the end of this sprint and then you can polish it up and iterate as it’s just so impressive getting all this work done in such a short space of time which is usually a big challenge!
It’s kind of like the design thinking methodology I used to use when I worked in an innovation team in a previous life you can end up with some cool stuff to work from at the end!
