My moments were:

  1. Meeting Dobie

  2. Meeting the JA team

  3. Playing the games on display

  4. Eating the biggest pana choca'la Iv'e ever seen

Pretty much!

Playing some amazing games - I'll write about them in full later. 😃

...TBH - Having a good chat with Rupert - talking about all kinds of things from JA to the history of Eurogamer and EGX. I'm hoping there will be more to come...

Yeh that as pretty awesome us three sat down chatting like that, I really appreciated him taking the time :)

I was told that many people gave up racing and I was happy that I got 1st place using accessible technology.

My biggest highlight was really just chatting with a bunch of devs who were very excited to be showing off their game. The vibes at WASD were fantastic, and there were tons of fun games to play through.

It has been a few days but I enjoyed actually going to an event again. I used to go to many conferences in the past and I miss the in person stuff. Feeding of the enjoyment and excitement of everyone there was lovely.

Highlights were:

  1. seeing the lamb from cult of the lamb

  2. The curiosity area - such lovely conversations and some really creative games

  3. The university showcase area - the creators there were so inspirational. Creating their own worlds and textures with little to no help. You forget sometimes how people start out and it was so nice to see this.

  4. Reconnecting with old friends over games and gameplay

My WASD highlights were:

  • Chatting with Lowtek Games about Bib Goes Home - what a cool and innovative game!

  • Losing repeatedly at Slope Crashers - it's giving SSX meets Happy Feet!

  • Buying enough Cult of the Lamb merch to make people believe I may in fact be in a cult

  • Finding a new game that'll eat up my life with Bootleg Steamer

  • Playing some cool cosy games like Preserve, Pieced Together and Paper Trails!

SSX meets Happy Feet!

I am sold! SSX was one of my favourite games, and animals just makes it better 😄

Also, Wallmasterr from Lowtek Games is here on our platform! Bib Goes Home completely blew my mind 🤯

Oh that's wicked! Bib Goes Home was such a cool concept and seeing chatting with Wallmasterr was great. The switching between scenes/pages was so smooth!

My Highlights at WASD 2024 were:

  1. Playing the games on display. Such as Lumi Starbound Adventure, Luna Abyss, Sincognito, and Die By The Blade.

  2. Getting my porfolio checked by a professional Sound Designer.

  3. The Talks and Panels.

That's very cool! Are there any games that made you want to get into sound design?

I'm a huge fan of Austin Wintory, though admittedly I mainly know him from the podcasts:

Just overall introducing myself to the event. First time seeing this sort of event felt really nice. Met a lot of amazing devs and publishers.

Hey Vee, thanks for this and a warm welcome to Just About! A highlight moment for me was a complete break in my "norm" when it comes to the types of games I usually gravitate toward at demo events or life in general!

I don't play mobile games. I don't like mobile games. I don't play puzzle games.

And yet something about Squarelets drew me in and I'm glad it did!

I spent a little time speaking with the solo developer of the game and members of the publishing team who were all such a delight to speak with, which is in line with how much of a delight this charming puzzle game is to play (for free on iOS, Android soon I hope...).

If you like puzzle games, pastel colours, cozy vibes and cute cartoon creatures... click the link below and give Squarelets a try.

Squarelets is a cosy image puzzler to play when you want to relax and unwind.  Immerse yourself in a world of vivid colours, charming graphics, and satisfying gameplay. https://www.chaoscookie.games/squarelets

The Devolver Digital presence at WASD was definitely a highlight for me, especially getting to take a crossover photo of Resident Evil 4 and Cult of the Lamb! 😂

Seeing the Anger Foot guy in real life was so awesome too, especially because I was already a huge fan of the game before WASD!

Massive props to Devolver Digital for putting on an incredible display, it was so fun just to hang out there during the day, chat to everyone there and play some (literally) kick-ass games! 😍😂🗡️☠️💢👟

My highlight is one i think we all forget about, think about it. We are alive and living in a world where so many of us can take a day out of our busy lives, come together and enjoy video games, have a look at the future of the industry, make friends and new connections and have some fun time out!

My highlight is appreciating that we live in a world we can do this, imagine if we were born only 100 years ago where video games didn't even exist!

JB

Since first coming across it, Anger Foot has been on my radar and that remains the case after WASD. It looks like it's going to be very addictive gameplay loop, with an assault on the sense to go with the gunplay and door kicking involved. On my wishlist!
